  1. Please implement static IP address or Reserved IP address for Blob, file, table, queue services in Storage Account.

We use IP address filtering on our firewall settings in our company network. Now, we need to download IP address range which Microsoft Azure uses once a week and reconfigure our firewall settings if they have any change. That is burden on us. Please implement static IP address or Reserved IP address for Blob, file, table, queue services in Storage Account.

  2. Support HTTP/2 and SPDY

With all the major browsers behind http/2 and deployed spdy/3 (chrome/ff/IE11) please implement this for Azure Storage

  3. See total size used by container/share and by storage account

We have multiple storage accounts each with blobs and other objects. The dashboards should show the total disk usage at every level: across all storage accounts, when clicking on a blob, the total for each folder, etc. Right now, one needs to get to the individual file level to see the size and manually sum it up.

  4. HTTP compression support for Azure Storage Services (via Accept-Encoding/Content-Encoding fields)

Add support for 'Accept-Encoding' and 'Content-Encoding' fields in the HTTP request in Azure Storage Services with supported compression schemes gzip and deflate. This should helps reduce network payload by 10x-50x in some cases like saving/loading bulk records to Azure Table Storage.

  5. Support deduplication of Azure storage objects (blobs and files)

Add support for deduplication of files stored in Azure Files to save storage space (cost). General file savings are about 50% when using deduplication in Windows Server

  6. Remove or dramatically increase the max number of stored access policies per container, file share, table, or queue

Today the maximum policy you can have is 5. This is way to low as we are using blob storage in a data sharing scenario between providers and consumers and we need to use policies to be able to revoke issued SAS tokens in this sharing scenario. 5 policies means that we can only control 5 SAS keys that can be revoked. We need a lot more.

  7. Manage SAS Token by Name and Include in Audit Logs

Give SAS tokens a name when generating then:
    - allow report/table of all generated token
    - allow revoke of exisiting token (or modification of access)
    - use the SAS token name in storage audit logs

At the moment, the storage access logs do not show any useful information about who has made access, and this is critical to a practical audit function.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently you can use a stored access policy to manage revocation of an existing token. You are also able to track requests made using an existing stored access policy in the storage account logs. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-dotnet-shared-access-signature-part-1#controlling-a-sas-with-a-stored-access-policy for more details. For any further questions, or to discuss your specific scenario, send us an email at azurestoragefeedback@microsoft.com.

  8. Make the $logs container read only

We need to be sure that all audit logs are there and can not be modified/deleted. Now it is possible to delete audit log files from the $logs folder.

  9. Possibility to migrate a Storage Account to an Affinity Group

It would be very practical to be able to move or migrate a storage account into an affinifty group after it's creation.

  10. Allow control of storage account DefaultServiceVersion through Azure Panel for true HTTP/1.1

By default, when a new Storage Account is created, the DefaultServiceVersion property is set to 2009-09-19, which is really old. Many storage accounts created now don't need backwards compatibility with this very old version.
It would be very useful to allow control of DefaultServiceVersion through Azure control panel or better, when creating a new Storage Account (same way you can select Windows release when creating VM) so that one can select it to a more recent version and thus allow storage account to respond to HTTP/1.1 Range request.

  11. Secure Azure Storage access using WAAD/ACS

I'd like to expose access to Azure storage resources directly to my tenants, but I need to use the same security mechanisms that my users use for accessing other parts of my system (e.g., web apps).

  13. SSD storage pricing is way high and the calculator in no way captures the actual cost that's incurred

The SSD pricing is way too costly for us - I tried the calculator ( https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/ ) but when I started using it, it went off charts!! When I got in touch with the customer care, I was told the charge of the disk is list price which is used to multiply the consumed units.

I've been using a single premium storage (SSD) which means I should be charged at $19.71 per month ( 1 X $19.71) and any the consumed units to be charged at $0.0036 per unit, so for instance if I have consumed 2.7 units it should…

  15. Create storage account sharding infrastructure.

Create storage account sharding infrastructure. It's an enormous, error prone task to create this infrastructure by hand. This really needs to be baked into the infrastructure.

  16. Block deleting of Storage Accounts if Not Empty

If I am supposed to store Terra Bytes of data, in Management Portal easy delete option is very dangerous. Along with no way to retrieve deleted data. Even accidentally it does happen, today I created a test blob storage to test media services and then decided to delete it. I noticed, I could easily have selected something else and deleted it.

    1. Two Factor Delete Operation, send a code to email and ask user to enter the code to delete.
    2. Perform delete after actual 24 hours.
    2. Use some sort of warning indication in email that delete request is…

  18. Increase storage account create calls per subscription limit

“RDFE throttles the storage account creation; the default throttling limit is 20 per subscription per hour "

Most of our automation creates storage account on the fly and they fails with following reasons

"The maximum number storage account creations calls allowed for a subscription in an hour has been exceeded. Please try again after some time."

  19. Ability to set Proxy Server

Allow the ability to set the proxy server for requests on windows azure storage

I will say yes you can set the global but this isn't always ideal in all environments.

  20. Storage tiering / Replication

    - Offer capability like SSD/Sata/Sas high perf, Low cost with automatic tiering, offer deduplication capability mean in the same Data center store 10 times the same file for the same price, the capability to use DPM for Backup , SCOM capability ...
Offer live replication in active /active Mode with GSLB like front end capability ..

But Azure is a very good product.
