  1. end point file sync

text file changed on the server endpount is not sync to the File share on Azure. What is the point of setup sync group and use file sync on the on-premises server?

  2. Azure File Sync - Free Space Threshold On Multiple Endpoints Not Flexible

Per documentation and Help pop up on the setting, when configuring multiple endpoints: "When there is more than one server endpoint on a volume, the effective volume free space threshold is the largest volume free space specified across any server endpoint on that volume."

Why not allow independent endpoint free space thresholds?

If endpoint1 has 20 times more free space than endpoint2, but I have to set the free space threshold high to get some data on endpoint2, this forces endpoint1 to use the same threshold, not using available space for more local cache of files.

    Flexibility in data sharing…

  3. Enable notifications when new files are added in the folder

When new files are added or if there are changes on files under a folder this should allow the capability to notify selected users.

  4. make premium files share preview can creat, open, close .mdb .accdb fast like we do it in local machine

We have a .net desktop application for exporters. and run it well in our pc and Area network. We now built a premium files share storage with 500g
and make a share path with our local machine, we found it works become very slow. if we only open one database file and edit, update one item, it only a little slow. but when we will open, create, update many item and many files. it become very very slow. We also do it from vm machine. when we excute out desktop allpication in vm machine. it is fine. but when we link files share…

  6. Invoke-StorageSyncCloudTiering - permanent?

Concerns Cloud Tiering in Azure File Sync.

When once Invoke-StorageSyncCloudTiering executed on a folder then the folder will be further always enforced to be tiered? No matter what Cloud Tiering policy is set up for the Sync Group? And no matter if recently used / copied?

    Concerns the module: "C:\Program Files\Azure\StorageSyncAgent\StorageSync.Management.ServerCmdlets.dll"

  7. When you build a product to sync files between Azure and on-premisess file servers we expect it to be a near realtime synchronisation, not

When you build a product to sync files between Azure File Storage and on-premisess file servers we expect it to be a near realtime synchronisation, not once every 24 four hours.

Can we force a synchronisation when we need it, say every hour ?

  10. Azure File Sync Traffic flow

Wanted to know how the traffic passes b/w on-prem to Azure, when using Azure file sync? is it via S2S VPN or internet? If I need to route the traffic over S2S VPN what is the recommendation?

  12. Azure Files Improve AD DS integration

I like the new AD DS integration, but it should support automatic password update too. I can imagine enterprise environments do not grant individuals permissions to "own" a storage account AND administer AD at the same time, so the pre-requisites for password updates could be problematic. At the same time, the need to manually update password every some time appears like administrative overhead, especially if larger number of shares are at play.

  13. Support for O365 Data Classification on Azure FIles

It would be great to enable the O365 functions which are incorporated into the Advanced Compliance features (Data Classification, Compliance Reporting etc) to scan the Azure Files repository. This would enable seamless classification and reporting of files across, Onedrive, Sharepoint and Azure Files - providing a single pain of glass for an entire file ecosystem.

  15. Improve azure files monitoring

The possible alerts are really lacking. Some suggestions, from highest prio to lowest:
    - % used alerts instead of GB used vs quota
    - IOPS % used vs configured. This is limited based on size but there is no real way of monitoring it before it's to late, as you can alert on throttling after it happened.
    - Remaining burst credits.
    - Multiresource monitoring. Monitor all shares on all storage accounts with 1 alert.
    - Use GiB as unit instead of GB in the metrics. It's really confusing to monitor 102GB for a 100GiB fileshare. This is important especially due…

  17. File coping to File storgae to network server

Hi, I have a requirement to
    1- generate a file,
2 - save it in Azure File storage,
3 - copy it into an on-prem server location from Azure file storage, When I m debugging it in local it works fine, But after deploying the application in azure, 3rd step is not working not copying the file from file storage to the server,

Any idea, do I need to whitelist the azure weblink in the server, if so what is the port that I have to open,
    Thanks

  18. Webdav Protocol Support for Azure Files

It would be very useful for Azure Files to support webdav, so that end users could mount an Azure Files share locally without going over SMB Port 445

  19. Assign file/folder level permissions to AzureAD users on Azure File Shares

It would great to have the ability to assign NTFS style permissions to folders and files on Azure Files Shares based on AzureAD/O365 accounts.

Currently you have to have AzureAD DS enabled/configured on your tenant, and have a vm joined to that domain services instance with the share mounted to it. For organizations that are moving away from centralized AD, this prevents them from using Azure File shares to replace file servers.

  20. Allow Azure File Sync IP Whitelisting

To improve security on Azure File Sync, it would be nice to be able to whitelist source IPs/CIDR ranges.
