  2. Selective sync support for Azure file Sync

Please add selective sync support for azure file sync:

For example allow exception specific file type or folder from sync to azure.
like *.pst files or user Downloads folders

and give some icon or file attribute to identify file synchronisation in a Windows environment to determine if files are sync successfully or not.

    Thanks

  3. Access Azure Files shares on macOS using AD DS Authentication

We would like to access Azure Files file shares on macOS systems using AD DS authentication, as we do for our Windows clients.

We do not want to mount using access keys.

Do you plan to implement this or should I look in a different direction?

  4. Better ETL log file management for Azure File Sync Agent

On servers running the Azure Storage Sync agent we noticed that more and more space gets used on the C: drive.
After investigating a server we found 74GB of .ETL files in the C:\Program Files\Azure\StorageSyncAgent\MAAgent\Diagnostic directory.
Would be nice if the agent would automatically remove all logs older than a certain time (e.g. 1 month).

  5. Azure File Sync ARM Template Support

Full support for Azure File Sync ARM Templates. Right now you can't create a full Azure File Sync deployment using ARM. You can only create the storage account and Sync Service.

  6. Enable snaphsot (Previous version) access when connected to on-prem file server that is being synced with AFS

Allow an AFS synced file server with snapshots to access snapshots without having to mount the cloud share. This will allow users to restore their own files

  7. configure more than once-daily scheduled backups of Azure File Shares

I think all of us migrating from "StorSimple devices" require similar backup capabilities with Azure File Sync. The constraint of 180 daily snaps shots limits capabilities & redundancy. As this is the Microsoft preferred & Microsoft recommended migration path from "StorSimple devices", then a similar capability of having daily snap shops, weekly snap shots & monthly snap shots for backups makes more sense & greatly enhances AFS capability. Right now to retrieve a file from any deletion point, I require 180 snapshots to go back 6 months. If I were allowed to have daily, weekly, monthly & perhaps even annual…

  8. Alternative Data Stream support on Azure File Shares

Currently the ADS (Alternative Data Stream) is not available on Azure using Azure File Service shares.

In ADS you can store extra relevant information which is beneficial for applications.
This option is used to have less latency than having stored this information on another place. We have proven that this is the most efficient solution for our product.

This feature is a must have when for example programs are using index based files from a migrated legacy application from the main frame.

Having this information available the application can for example decide which index file should be used for the…

  9. My need would be to use Azure File Sync with Linux not only with Windows OS

My need would be to use Azure File Sync with Linux not only with Windows OS. We are using Azure File Sync for Azure Site Recovery purposes, but in the near future we are going to use Linux shares in place of Windows shares on Windows CLuster file server. Is there such a development for this?

  10. Creating an Azure Monitor alert rule when Azure Storage Files share usage approaches quota

The ability to create an Azure Monitor alert rule when an Azure Storage Files share usage approaches quota, out-of-the-box without having to create a custom script automation.

  11. Instant Search support for Azure Files Shares within Windows

When searching a file share hosted on Windows Server with Window Search Indexing enabled from a Windows client you get instant search results back from a search query in Windows Explorer.

When searching a file share hosted on Azure Files the search results return slowly as the search operation searches through the folders one by one.

It would be great to have instant search on Azure Files Shares so that files share can be lifted and shifted from Windows Servers and still have the same end user experience.

  12. error System error 86 has occurred. The specified network password is not correct, when mounting a file share in Azure VM

Getting error: System error 86 has occurred. The specified network password is not correct when mounting a file sgare in Azure VM,

After simulating several scenarios of the Azure files share mounting issue finally have identified the root cause of the issue .Now Azure files share is getting mounted into Azure Virtual machines without any issues.
Azure Virtual machine bounded to their on primes AD which has pointing to their internal DNS thus it does not have the ability to resolve storage account fully qualified domain name thus we’re getting system 86 password in correct message though
    The credential are…

  13. Azure File Event triggers for LogicApp / Event Grid

I would prefer Azure File Event triggers when a file is created, modified or deleted. This will help us for bridging using service bus for legacy applications that operate using files and modern applications. I am looking at a model where each legacy app will have its storage account and mapped on its server. Any files that downstream systems require will written to this storage and made available on the service bus topics; the files it needs to consume will be delivered to this storage.

Thank you for your feedback! In this case, the reason why an Azure file share cannot be mounted on FreeBSD is because of the SMB support provided in the OS distribution rather than a limitation we have on the Azure Files service side. That said, we have contributed to Linux to support SMB 3.0 with encryption in the past, so we would like to investigate how to make Azure Files work on FreeBSD as well.

To help us prioritize this ask, please continue to vote for this item.

    Thanks,

  15. Create a File Sync Agent for Linux

Currently the File Sync agent is only available for recent iterations of Windows servers. I'd like to be able to use this service on a Linux (Ubuntu LTS) server.

  16. Azure File Sync - O365 Integration

It would be great if Azure File Sync could integrate with O365 Group (files & folders) ore O365 SharePoint Document libraries.

To have the files synced with OnPrem file servers could provide a transparent experience for users while having always quick access.

  20. Support multiple cloud endpoints replicated in different regions for DR

Support multiple cloud endpoints, so two storage accounts/shares can be kept in sync in different regions to allow for customer initiated DR in the event of a failover.

At the moment, we cannot recommend Azure File Sync/Azure File Shares, as in the event of a regional outage, we could lose access to all data, until Microsoft recovers the region or initiates a failover (which could be >48 hours.

Having DFS-R on VMs in two regions is much better for DR and regional availability for our US/UK offices.
