SFTP (and FTPS) protocol support for Azure storage
Exposing the SFTP protocol for Azure Files or Azure Blob storage would facilitate a bunch of scenarios where today 2 VMs (with all the management overhead that implies) are required.

Thank you for the strong feedback on this request. We are working on this and will share our plans for this offering soon. Thank you for your patience!

Bread and butter for almost every business. As usual MS tackle the hard stuff but fail to provide the basics you need in 95% of everyday business.

please add this feature. I believe NFS is in preview.
SMB, NFS and FTPS and SFTP would be a undefeatable storage -

We're trying to move existing business processes to the cloud (ideally with as little change as possible) and yet there's no SFTP Server support ??
On the other hand, AWS do support SFTP - perhaps we're looking at the wrong cloud provider.

It undermines the credibility of Azure when we present it to customers that it doesn't support a very common, industry standard protocol like SFTP or FTPS. There is no sensible response back to our customers for why it is not supported out of the box.

Adding SFTP support for Azure file share or, Blob storage would be really helpful to many customers who still rely on file transfer mechanism using SFTP

Please consider this a vote for SFTP (and FTPS) protocol support for Azure Files. Amazon already offers this. https://aws.amazon.com/sftp

When will MSFT figure out how important it is to support this?!

Dear Admin, this is a long-awaited feature and something very useful that would help most organisations using Azure. Is there any update on the progress if SFTP can be available as an azure native service??

Please add this feature.

Microsoft should have done this about 5 years ago ...
https://docevent.io/... the monolithic pace at which you guys at Microsoft move is frankly insulting if you want to be forward thinking and pushing progress in to the cloud.

Why ask for feedback when this is ignored, one of the most voted features for a long time, other less voted features get implemented - Listen to your customers.

Bump! - we have 700+ clients sending us files via SFTP today. I fully expected a Managed SFTP Service in Azure. Specifically an Azure native solution, direct to blob/file storage (not a third party solution)

Having a SFTP interface on Azure Storage would make so many integrations so much easier!

SFTP as a service is a necessity nowadays. A lot of our customers are using AWS just for that, and that can be bad for Azure as they are learning more and more AWS...

I've been wanting this for years and can't believe it is still not available. Many of our customers will only send us files by SFTP or FTPS. Many of those are using main frame systems and would never even consider an API or AZcopy.
We have an FTP server set up on a VM on our legacy system but in this day and age why would we not have a integrated option in Azure?
The implications of setting up a VM just for FTP in our new cloud offering are not minor.
FTP is not going away anytime soon.
