SFTP (and FTPS) protocol support for Azure Files
Exposing the SFTP protocol would facilitate a bunch of scenarios where today 2 VMs (with all the management overhead that implies) are required.
Thanks for the feedback! We are interested in collecting feedback on this request – please vote for it if this is something you like to see.
We’re also interested in learning more what people want to use the SFTP/FTPS for and which protocol they prefer. Please feel free to leave us a comment letting us know more detail!

Adding SFTP support for Azure file share or, Blob storage would be really helpful to many customers who still rely on file transfer mechanism using SFTP
Hello! sFTP protocol for Azure Files would be a great feature.

Please consider this a vote for SFTP (and FTPS) protocol support for Azure Files. Amazon already offers this. https://aws.amazon.com/sftp
When will MSFT figure out how important it is to support this?!

Dear Admin, this is a long-awaited feature and something very useful that would help most organisations using Azure. Is there any update on the progress if SFTP can be available as an azure native service??
With this we feature we would like to share data across.
Please add this feature.
Microsoft should have done this about 5 years ago ...
... the monolithic pace at which you guys at Microsoft move is frankly insulting if you want to be forward thinking and pushing progress in to the cloud.
Why ask for feedback when this is ignored, one of the most voted features for a long time, other less voted features get implemented - Listen to your customers.

Bump! - we have 700+ clients sending us files via SFTP today. I fully expected a Managed SFTP Service in Azure. Specifically an Azure native solution, direct to blob/file storage (not a third party solution)

Having a SFTP interface on Azure Storage would make so many integrations so much easier!
SFTP as a service is a necessity nowadays. A lot of our customers are using AWS just for that, and that can be bad for Azure as they are learning more and more AWS...
I've been wanting this for years and can't believe it is still not available. Many of our customers will only send us files by SFTP or FTPS. Many of those are using main frame systems and would never even consider an API or AZcopy.
We have an FTP server set up on a VM on our legacy system but in this day and age why would we not have a integrated option in Azure?
The implications of setting up a VM just for FTP in our new cloud offering are not minor.
FTP is not going away anytime soon.
SFTP connectors using Azure Data Factory??? haven't used it yet, but planning to use it..
Here we are years later and nothing..

Totally agree, @657567118-greg-lloyd! "Will people please stop posting about 3rd party SFTP solutions leveraging Azure Storage. This is a request that the feature be added by Microsoft. We don't another vendor, we want native support."
ARGH I need this right now... SFTP

Really, how can this not yet exist? Sftp is still a standard in many enterprises we work with. Their IT depts do not offer any other solution for file transfer. Installing/Using AZcopy or alike is not an option for them.
This is no. 2 on the upvote list. So, how about it MS Azure Storage Team? Any news since Feb 2018?

We use SFTP to get files to and from our customers for processing. As it stands, we have to spin up a VM with an SSH daemon. If we could just have SSH/SFTP access to an Azure Storage Account, that's one less VM we have to run! And definitely, SFTP over FTPS if we have to choose only one (although, why limit to just one?)
Finally, with SFTP, ssh pubkey authentication support would also be a must
