  1. Regarding removing a virtual network or subnet from the Storage account

    Issue Definition:
We have met several cx meet error when adding the virtual networking for storage account, the error showed like:
    'code': 'NetworkAclsNetworkSourceDeleted',
'message': 'NetworkAcls VirtualNetworkRule /subscriptions/***/resourceGroups//providers/microsoft.network/virtualNetworks// with state NetworkSourceDeleted in accounts **** is required to be removed before it can be added
    again.'

Current RCA and suggestions for this issue:
From TSG we know the root cause and workaroud as follows:
The root cause is "when a Subnet gets deleted if the subnet was added to the firewall of a storage account, this record from storage account will not be deleted. This creates a “ghost”…

  2. The architectural design decision to use SMB as the backend for Azure Disk needs to be bettered

Azure Storage team should consider making some fundamental changes to their architecture to correct it. As a customer of Azure Storage I should not have to use UltraDisk to get reasonable performance, and even ephemeral disks have their drawbacks. I should also not need to use alternate (and additional cost) solutions like NetApp, this functionality should be an integral part of at least Premium SSD and also part of Standard SSD.

If I were the Azure Storage team :- I would evaluate high-performance solutions that are true block storage like the ones from Pure Storage : https://www.purestorage.com/products/nvme/high-capacity/flasharray-c.html and deploy such…

  3. rename a managed disk of VM

Currently we cannot rename a managed disk of VM,
so would like to request including this function on Azure portal.

  4. Managed disks: Allow configuration/provisioning of performance (IOPS & throughput) independent from storage capacity

Currently, to get to a specific amount of performance for a managed disk, you must provision based on the performance. This usually results in massively over-provisioned storage capacity

We should be able to provision performance completely independently of capacity. Note, I'm not saying that infinite IOPS should be free--we're willing to pay for the IOPS and throughput, but it obviously should be a bit cheaper if we just need a few hundred gigs of space but need a couple of thousand or more IOPS than it is because we have to buy 2 or 3 1TB disks and stripe across…

  5. Allow premium disk resizing without deallocating the VM

Title is explanatory, I should be able to scale up a premium disk without restarting the virtual machine. VMware can do it, you can too! I believe in you!

  6. Available Disk Space monitoring and alerts are not sufficient

The current available tools for visualizing and alerting on available Disk Space for Azure Virtual Machines should be expanded. In the Dashboards module, there is no Live Tile that would allow you to see a Virtual Machine's disks and available space. You can get some data through custom queries, but these queries are manual-refresh only and are not truly suited to a live Dashboard environment.

Similarly, there is no way to create an Alert for low disk space in the current Alerts module. In Alerts (Classic) there was a % Free Disk Space - this is not sufficient because it…

  7. Azure Linux Disk Encryption features enhancement

    Hi, Azure product engineering team,

Kindly make available 'Azure Disk Encryption' on Red Hat for following scenarios.
    1) ADE (Azure Disk Encryption) for XFS file system on OS disk
    2) ADE for XFS file system on data disk without delete/wapping data.
    3) ADE on Custom image VMs
    4) ADE on LVM: extending and reducing disk feature

We faced challenges on ADE, Please find the reference ticket# 119021224003383

  8. Allow disk resize while VM is running

Currently, we can add and remove managed disks to or from a VM without needing to deallocate it. More often, we want to resize the disk. This requires the VM to be deallocated which is disruptive. The ability to size a managed disk up while the VM is running would be very helpful.

  9. Enable Incremental Snapshots for Managed Disks

With Unmanaged disks, by accessing the PageBlob APIs, one can efficiently compute incremental changes between two snapshots. This is because these blobs support incremental snapshots. This helps a lot in custom DR scenarios. However, with Managed disks, you cannot do such incrementals because each snapshot is a full copy.

Are we planning to enable incremental snapshotting capability for Managed Disks?

  10. [ADTL] Add Support for the OSDisk object

Currently the DTL ARM templates does not support the OSDisk object like the regular VM ARM templates.
We need an option to configure the OS disk size when creating Linux VM's. We have a pool of hundreds of Linux VM's in ADTL used as ADO build agents and the default OS disk size of 30GB is not enough.
There is no good way to automate the resizing of the OS disk nor attaching new data disks on Linux.

    Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/templates/microsoft.compute/2018-10-01/virtualmachines.

  13. Add managed disks pricing to the pricing calculator

The pricing calculator allows you to add 1 disk to a VM and see this pricing. However, it doesn't allow you to add multiple disks at different sizes. It also doesn't include the cost of a resized disk.

    Please enable this feature.

  14. Azure Disk Encryption need to support local proxy configuration

Currently Azure Disk Encryption doesn't support local proxy configuration. Proxy configurations that alter local HTTP traffic to this address are not supported. We want to support the VMs that configured Proxy configuration.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/security/azure-security-disk-encryption-tsg

    • Azure Instance Metadata Service The VM must be able to access the Azure Instance Metadata service endpoint which uses a well-known non-routable IP address (169.254.169.254) that can be accessed only from within the VM. Proxy configurations that alter local HTTP traffic to this address (for example, adding an X-Forwarded-For header) are not supported. ----

  15. Azure disk encryption by excluding particular data disk

We want to exclude one of data disk but want to encrypt remaining disks. Is there any possibility to do same..

    Example : Data Disks (D1,D2,D3)

want to exclude D2,continue with OS disk and data disks (D1 and D3 )

  16. Add Option for reducing size of OS Disk in case there is unallocated disk space in the VM.

There should be an option for reducing OS Disk size of VM if there is unallocated disk space in the VM. Currently there is an option for only increasing OS Disk size.

  17. Increase IOPS/MBps limits for P40/P50 Managed Disks

Expanded Managed Disk sizes have been GA for a bit and we're so glad to have them. All I'm asking for is some love for the 40 and 50 (2TB/4TB) disks since they're now now ratio appropriate relative to what the newer large disks offer. For P, making P40 a 300MB option and P50 a 400MB option would be excellent. The 250 cap on P50 makes it a poor choice today.

  18. Increase maximum disk size of VMWare VMs replicated to Azure

    Hi Team
I have been using Azure site recovery for almost 2 years now as a DR setup for 1 data centre. Due to increased disk usage, 1 of the VMs now has a disk of over 4095 GB. As a result I am not able to replicate this critical server and currently it is not possible to reduce the disk size in VMware. Is there a possibility for the maximum disk size to be increased over 4095 GB?

  19. shrink

Ability to shrink disk capacity of Windows and RHEL. I understand that we can increase the size of OS/Root disk for Windows and RHEL but currently there's no way to decrease it. I don't know if it is even possible but since it is cloud, I hope there is a way.

  20. Enable Azure Disk Encryption via portal

Currently Az CLI/PowerShell needs to be used for enabling Azure Disk Encryption. It would be great to be able to do this via the portal, and also to monitor the status. We can use Az CLI commands to pull status of disk encryption process, can we show this on the portal?
Additionally, seeing the status for ADE on the front page of a VM would be very handy.
