  2. Manage/Access uncommited blocks

Provide a means to manage uncommitted blocks via the portal or storage explorer. If you have a process that works with large files, and it fails for some reason, it leaves uncommitted blocks that can only be accessed via code or script. There is no means via the portal or storage explorer to clean the uncommitted blocks up.

  3. Azure Storage Life Cycle Management

Current Azure Storage Life cycle management supports only BaseBlob, which is restricting to having cleanup of Pageblobs. Can Azure expedite to support page blob and also make easier on the Life Cycle Management screen input design with graphical interface rather than having scripted way.

  4. sp_addsubscription

The parameter @backupdevicetype in sp_addsubscription doesn't have a value for the Azure blob Storage

I am trying to initialize a subscription using database backup file on an Azure blob storage. The stored Procedure sp_addsubscription only accepts to values Disk and Tape for the parameter: @backupdevicetype. Please figure out how we can include backup taken to URL.

    Thanks

  7. Allow AAD App Identity and Role Assignments in Blob storage

2019-03-04T04:47:40.513 [Error] Cannot create Shared Access Signature unless Account Key credentials are used.

System-assigned App Id allows me to access Key Vault when running in deployed app instance. The App code simply creates a KeyVault client using the vault Url. No seperate code is needed. Permissions are handled by Azure under the hood.

Why can't I do this for the same app accessing Blob storage?

  8. monitor success and failure of file uploaded to blob

Our customer needs to monitor the success and failure of file uploaded to blob. Because failure upload results in unecpected error for their application.

  9. Azure Blob Storage - Retrieve user that reads or writes blob in Storage Container

    Hello

Just an idea regarding Azure Storage:

Making available and easy how to know the AD user that writes or reads a blob file in a container. I cannot see the property at blob level, neither in Storage Account Activity Log (at least for a specific blob file).

Would be there a way to know, for each blob in my container, which user has accessed it and how it dealt with the blob?

It's not an option in the current logs that are generated, they aren't fine grained. the current log format would only indicate whether the request was authenticated…

  10. SAS At Folder level

    Hello Team,

Could you please provide an option to generate SAS tokens at Folder level within blob container.

E.g. I have blob container called 'test', Inside it have the following files/ Blobs.

    FolderA/PathA/file.txt
    FolderA/PathA/file2.txt
    FolderA/PathA/file3.txt
    FolderB/PathB/file.txt

We want to generate SAS token such that the user can perform operations inside 'FolderA' only inside 'test' container.

  11. Delete multiple containers at once Azure Storage Explorer

Currently, you can only delete one container at a time from Azure Storage Explorer. Being able to delete more than one would be very valuable when handling storage management.

  12. Allow setting Archive tier at the account and container levels

Currently the archive tier can be set only at the blob level. There are plenty of uses cases for having entire storage accounts or containers for archival where setting the tier for each blob is tedious and non-value-adding.

Thank you for your feedback. We are currently in public preview of blob storage lifecycle management. The feature set offers a rich, rule-based policy engine which you can use to transition your data to the best access tier and to expire data at the end of its lifecycle. This framework can be used to match and tier blobs based on prefix to enable batch archiving of an account, containers, or even virtual directories. Having talked to a number of customers, we concluded that this solution addresses many scenarios where the need for account and container level archiving exists. See our post on the Azure Blog to get started: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-blob-storage-lifecycle-management-public-preview/preview/.

For any further questions, or to discuss your specific scenario, send us an email at DLMFeedback@microsoft.com.

  13. Diagnostics logs are generating 404, when the directory structure is not there yet.

Diagnostics logs are generating 404, when the directory structure is not there yet in the Blob Container. In Application Insight, it's giving a false impression that there are issues of 404. We need to filter these errors, but its should be handled or hidden for us.

  14. Will Azure Blob Storage lifecycle management support General-purpose V1 in the future

Will it support General-purpose V1 in the future? or we must upgrade General-purpose V1 to General-purpose V2 to leverage this feature?

  17. Storage Account Events: Add Container delete notification (currently only blob delete notifications are available)

You have Microsoft.Storage.BlobDeleted but thre is no "ContainerDeleted". This should be trivial to implement.

  18. Support chunked transfer encoding on Blob PUT

Currently the PUT API for block blobs requires a Content-Length header. This essentially makes the API unusable for clients that use async pipelining to start sending the blob bytes while they are being received or generated, and therefore before the total content length is known. Rather, it requires the caller to buffer the entire blob locally, determine the length, and then call the PUT API with that length. This is inefficient. When using an async client SDK, like the Java Storage SDK v10, knowing the entire content length ahead of time should not be necessary. See https://github.com/Azure/azure-storage-java/issues/336, for example.

  19. Allow longer resource names

Please revise the resource name length limits: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/jmstall/2014/06/12/azure-storage-naming-rules/

The name length limits do not correspond with current possibilities. They are adequate rather to MS-DOS times.

"Deployment name" is limited to 64 characters, which means that a template name has to be a way below the limit. Why???

  20. Allow Paas Services to connect to firewall protected storage as "Trusted Services"

Currently only very few Azure PaaS services can connect to a firewall protected Storage Account, but practically all data integration tools (Data Factory, Data Lake Analytics, Databricks, Azure DW Polybase, Logic Apps, Azure Functions etc). are not considered among these "Trusted Services".

More and more of our Azure customers are complaining about this missing feature as alternative methods are clunky or not available, depending on the scenario.

There are multiple ideas regarding the same issue, each for specific service. But I see the problem as more foundational, it is not a question of which PaaS services should be included, more…
