  1. Add special ParquetBlobStorage allowing filtering

Parquet is de facto standard for storing big data.

However we usually do not need all date stored in parquet hive/files.

It would be great if there were ParquetBlobStorage - extension of BlobStorage that:

    a) would understand parquet format i.e. in order to read schema it will read only end of the file

    b) allow selective column/row reading - no need to copy full blob when we need just couple columns or group of row.

  2. Restrict access blob

Hello, we have a storage with 3 blobs:

    Blob1

    Blob2

    Blob3

We need 3 access (keys) in which every key has only access to a specific folder in the blob:

    key1: access only Blob1

    key2: access only Blob2

    key3: access only Blob3

    something like this:

  3. Add a function to obtain and monitor the number of blob storage per container.

When checking the metrics that can be obtained with Storage Account for Monitor, it is possible to obtain and monitor the number and size of Blob Storage per storage account, but it is not possible to obtain and monitor per container.
I want to be able to get and monitor the number and size of Blob Storage per container.

  4. Lifecycle Management to support other blob types than just BlockBlob

It is too restrictive to only offer lifecycle management to BlockBlob. For example we use AppendBlob for some logging and cannot auto delete those after a period of time. It would be good to be able to specify retention policies on those types as well.

  5. Multiple websites in single blob container

I would like to create multiple websites under $web and access them via those. For any links using src it works fine, but href always goes back and looks for the files in root folder.

    I created folders web1 and web2 under $web.

    This works: <script type="text/javascript" src="/static/js/main.8243def2.js">

    but

<link href="/static/css/main.cc95eacb.css" looks for the folder static under $web, even though it needs to look under web1. Changing href to /web1/static/css/main.cc95eacb.css doesn't help.

    Thanks,

  8. http/2 storage blob

Hello, Is there an approximate date for HTTP / 2 to be enabled in Azure Blob Storage?

A few months ago I read it was in your backlog, but I do not know if that reqeuerimiento is still waiting.

  9. Raise the default storage signed version for anonymous requests to above 2011-08-18

My customer used blob to serve anonymous request for their video site. They noticed that users using chrome or android could not adjust the playback progress, which is caused by the low default storage signed version 2009-09-19 not supporting Range in HTTP header.
Is it possible to raise the default signed version from 2009-09-19 to at least 2011-08-18 so that customer would not need to set the default signed version manually in this case?

  10. ADLS Gen2 works with BlobStorage.

ADLS Gen2 works with BlobStorage, so I think the following sentence is incorrect.
[Data Lake Storage Gen2 is only supported on General-purpose V2 storage accounts with Hierarchical namespace enabled.]
The correct movement is as follows.
    - Select a blob when creating a storage account and enable the hierarchical structure.
    - Abfss: //... can be connected, and the endpoint is also <account> .dfs.core.windows.net.
    - No error occurs when connecting from other services.
Is it not "only" but "General-purpose V2 and BlobStorage"?

  12. Creating an blob container with an immutability policy with the Azure for Java SDK

I'd want to be able to create a Blob container with an Immutability Policy with the Azure for Java SDK.

The Blob SDK v12 allows me to retrieve a boolean field indicating if a container has an Immutability Policy, but there is no way to actually create one or get the details of the current Immutability Policy with Java.

  13. Make it possible to set the time frame for running Azure life cycle management policies

According to this page, https://docs.microsoft.com/sv-se/azure/storage/blobs/storage-lifecycle-management-concepts, it tells that the policy for block blob runs only once every day. Can we set the time to run these policies, so that we have better control over them? This might be useful for scenarios, for example: when we need to run archiving or cleaning up job during hours where business load is less.

  14. Multiple IP Support for storageAccount networkAcl ARM Templates

Microsoft.Storage/storageAccounts Azure Resource Manager definitions format. Currently there is no way to specify multiple IPs in an IpRule for the networkAcls config. As such, it is difficult to maintain whitelisted IPs in the "variables" or "parameters" section of my ARM template. Could multiple IP support be integrated?

  16. [Azure Storage] Lock for archived BLOB's rehydration

Offline storage like "Archive Tier" can be a good option for storing sensitive data.
If storage account holder can lock his/her archived BLOB's rehydration, it could be very secure.

  17. free disk monitor

Since classic alerts are retired, there is no option to monitor free disk space of a VM. I suggest creating a metric to monitor disk space, otherwise, administrators are not able to make sure their service is working fine.
    Thanks

  18. Include Azure SQL as a "trusted Micorsoft service to access the Storage Account"

We're restricting access to our Storage Accounts by configuring the Firewall & Virtual networks.
However, one of these storage accounts must also be accessible to our Azure SQL db's. This is currently not supported.

Rather than securing the Storage Account, it has been proposed to restrict access from the Azure SQL side, BUT, that configuration currently only works if some other features (external tables) aren't used. We've now come full circle :)

Ideally, we'd like to see that we can secure the Storage Account - and include Azure SQL as a trusted service.

  19. Permanent deletion of soft-deleted blobs (GDPR)

We considered using the new Azure Blob Storage - Soft Delete feature - as a backup solution and safety precaution for accidental blob deletions caused by potential code bugs in our (multitenant) application.

We would like to set the retention as high as possible from a safety perspective, but need to set it as low as possible from a GDPR compliance perspective; since we need to remove all PII for resigning customers - this also include soft deleted blobs.

Since there seem to be no way to permanently delete soft deleted blobs (before they are automatically removed by the retention…
