Service Bus

  1. Azure Service Bus - Disable Default Secure Access Key

Now we have RBAC controls for Azure Service Bus, There is no longer a need for the SAP primary and secondary keys, in effect this is a security loop hole if using standard service bus as you can't set up fire walling to prevent external access to the PAAS service.

If either the default SAP at the namespace could be removed or the keys cleared this would allow only access via RBAC through Azure AD

  2. Add metric for used space of the partitions of a topic

In order to avoid QuotaExceededExceptions when sending messages to a topic, it is must be possible to create an alert rule based on the size of the partitions of the topic. Hence there should be a metric for the sizes of the partitions of a topic. It should be possible to define an alert rule that when any of the partitions reaches a certain threshold size (expressed as absolute size in GB or relative size as percentage of full), then an alert can be triggered. In the Azure Portal it should be possible to see the used space of each…

  3. Allow updating RequiresClientAuthorization of hybrid connections

The property can only be set at creation time. Can you make it settable after it is created?

  4. Enable visibility of connected client IPs to Service Bus entities (queues/topics)

Which client IPs are connected to your service bus entities and which client IPs were connected to your entities is useful/necessary for auditing.

Additionally, it is useful for development/debugging activities.

Furthermore, additional features like IP blacklisting etc would be then also possible.

  5. Add more granular access policies for querying queue information such as free space

Currently in order to allow an application to query how much free space is available on a queue, it has to use the ManagementClient class, which means it requires the "Manage" access policy which grants far more control than I want this application to have.

Can you add more granular policies than Send, Listen and Manage. Allowing an application to read queue runtime information and queue configuration settings should not also require you have to grant permission to edit those settings.

  6. Give permission to subscriber to create subscription

In the publisher/subscriber pattern the publisher should not know who or what subscribes to the messages it sends.

In my opinion the publisher should own the bus and the topics that it publishes to, but in order for the publisher to remain unaware of it's subscribers I believe it should be the subscriber who should create the subscriptions on the topic.

In order to achieve that at the moment we would have to assign manage permissions to the subscribers which isn't ideal as they would gain many permissions that you would not want to give the subscribers.

    Any chance you…

  7. service bus diagnostic setting record “Success request, Server error” metrics data

The service bus diagnostic setting can record AllMetrics to storage/event hub/log analytics.

But currently, Service bus diagnostic can only export “IncomingRequests, IncomingMessages, OutgoingMessages” metrics data, it can’t export “Success request, Server error” metrics data temporary.

We need “Success request, Server error” metrics data.

  9. Update the documentation for the Java SDK 3.0.0

The Java SDK 3.0.0 has a complete management section that I cannot find documented anywhere, there is one sample that creates a Queue.
The documentation on this page https://github.com/Azure/azure-sdk-for-java/tree/master/sdk/servicebus suggests that 1.2.8 is the current version!

  10. monitor subscriptions

My customer would like to be able to monitor subscription metrics through azure monitor. Currently there is no way to see if a subscription is successfully processing messages. A user can monitor topics to see that it has sent outgoing messages to subscriptions but not monitor the subscription to see that it is functioning and provide alerts to notify users of that inactivity.

  11. Add support for managed identity tokens for Service Bus REST API

Currently, the only options when you use the REST API is to pass WRAP or SAS tokens in the Authorization header, even though Service Bus supports managed identity:

  12. Auto scale Standard namespace infrastructure to remove noisy neighbour problems

Regularly (every couple of weeks) we have to create support tickets with Microsoft because of noisy neighbour issues as a symptom of Standard namespaces sharing infrastructure with other unknown namespaces.

These issues manifest as poor performance browsing the Azure portal for that namespace, provisioning using ARM templates, performing management operations using Powershell or browsing the namespace through Service Bus Explorer.

The resolution from Microsoft is that they have scaled the backend infrastructure.

This should be an automated process, and not something that relies on customers having to investigate, raise support tickets and wait for a resolution. A resolution to this…

  15. View/Purge messages in Azure Service Bus Queue

In the Azure Service Bus queue overview blade, I can see summary properties for my queue.

I would like to be able to view the contents of messages currently in the Azure Service Bus queue.
I would like to be able to purge (delete) individual messages from the queue.
I would like to be able to purge all messages.

  16. Provide Event Hub viewer / explorer

It would be good if some sort of viewer/explore was provided for looking at the events within an Event Hub. This could be done either via the portal or Azure Storage Explorer.

When developing I currently use https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Summer.azure-event-hub-explorer to view events as they are produced.

However, it would be good if a tool existed that let you browse events within the retention period. With the possibility to query by timestamp & partition key. As well as the event body, it would be good to be able to see the properties and other metadata.

We use Event Hub as the integration…

  17. service bus cluster

Need support for cross region service bus availability zones with active replication feature. This would enable to failover and the application doesn't need to care about idempotency

  18. Having an option to add tags while creating service bus using azure portal experience

Hi there is a policy where we can enforce tagging while creating the resource, but the policy is currently of no use because while creating service bus via azure portal experience we can't add tags and hence we will not be able to create this resource as we have applied policy. So I please request to the team to add this feature as it's critical if we want to use policies to manage our resources. If you have concerns please let me know.

  20. Increase max queue name length for scheduler jobs to match actual 260 character limit

Azure allows the names of service bus queues to be up to 260 characters long, but in the action settings for scheduler jobs the limit is 50 characters. Please increase it to 260.
