  1. Dynamics CRM images on Azure

The Sharepoint Farm deployment on Azure is a great capability. Having a similar capability for Dynamics CRM (on-premises) is going to be a huge win. There is already the Dynamics CRM online offering, however this doesn't satisfy most of the use case scenarios and having the one click CRM instance deployment capability would be a huge leap

  2. Ensure Virtual Machine GenerationID does not change over a Shut Down and Start pair of operations

Microsoft invented the VM GenerationID as a means of determining when an important VM transition event has occured. As per Microsoft's paper on the subject, the GenerationID of a guest should not change on restart or migrate operations. This works fine directly on Hyper-V, but an Azure managed VM will see a GenerationID change when the VM is Shut Down then Started (as two separate operations, a single 'Restart' operation does not change the GenerationID). Incidentally, the virtual SMBIOS UUID also changes during this operation, which is wrong too (SMBIOS UUID should change only on a clone operation).
    I imagine…

  3. Clone complete Resource Group

For DEV/TEST/PROD environments, it would be great to have a the possibility to clone all resources within a resource group to a new one. (Public IP's and other unique resources will be an issue), but as far as the VM's are cloned, it would save A LOT of time!

  4. The Azure VM internal DNS domain names are too long.

The Azure VM internal DNS domain names are too long.

Azure IaaS VM's created using the Preview Portal using the
"Resource Manager" deployment model generate DNS domain names
that are too long, for example:

    03v3fn0ewrau5aiydhfewgpjza.cx.internal.cloudapp.net

Since the FQDN max length, in Linux at least is 64 chars, that
leaves only 12 chars for the "Computer Name". There are no
warnings or protections on creating a VM with a length longer
than 12, so when the host comes up, and DHCP sets the hostname
based on the "Computer Name" it finds that it has an illegal
    FQDN length.

    It seems that…

  6. Make Solaris, OpenSolaris and SmartOS VMs available

Pretty please, allocate some resources to make Oracle Solaris and smartOS by Joyent (the Node.js guys) VMs available in Azure. This is a one time gig for y'all and lifetime ease-of-use for your consumers!!

I am familiar that we can build our own system, but last time I checked, Hyper-V has issues with SmartOS in networking (legacy switch) area. A blog by Azure/MSOpenTech to configure Solaris and SmartOS in Azure and local/private Hyper-V would be really really helpful.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

  7. total and regional and vCPU

The total regional vCPUs should be increased similar way as for each individual SKUs via the Usage + quotas page.
As total regional VCPUs is not the sum of each individual quotas, its increase is a separate request.

  8. Install os on vm from file.iso

Definitely want to see this as the current procedure to create and upload VM's is not easy or user friendly.

Compared to the rest of the Azure platform this is a big let down. If you look at vCloud for instance the ability to upload an ISO or an OVA/F to build VM's makes my life as an admin much easier.

Please implement some form of ISO/OVA/OVF

  9. rename objects (affinity group, service bus, etc)

I hate how some types of objects can't be renamed.

Please let me rename things like Affinity Groups.

  10. Make it possible to download a compressed (zip?) vhd instead of the full vhd

Make it possible to download a compressed (zip?) vhd instead of the full vhd. Now I have to download the whole vhd and not just the bits that are actually used.

We are thinking of enabling an easy way to download a dynamic VHD to reduce the download size, if that helps? Unfortunately, I don’t think VHD files compress that well.

  11. Integrate VM Windows Updates with Availability Sets

I would like to turn on automatic updates for our Windows virtual machines running on Azure but we can't because they are not integrated with Availability Sets. That is, I cannot guarantee that another node won't be down (being moved by Azure, etc) when Automatic Updates kicks in.

Even as it is, when we manually install updates, there's nothing preventing Azure from taking down the other nodes in the Availability Set, because Azure does publish its maintenance window.

I would like to be able to let the Azure service control and install Windows / Microsoft updates with respect to Availability…

  12. ARM Portal: creating VMS using your own images or disks

In classic portal I can create VMs using an image that I created by a snapshot. In the new portal there is no such option. The only way is to switch back to the classic portal or using powershell.
When deploying a virtual machine there is no option choosing your harddrives or your own images.

  13. Provide Apache Camel components for your queue product and others

The Apache Camel framework is a popular and great product. Briefly, its purpose is to move enterprise messages across heterogenous protocols. Some people like me wish to move messages to and from many Azure services using Apache Camel.

As an example your competitor Amazon AWS already has these components. You can take inspiration from AWS.! See this link

    http://camel.apache.org/components.html

  14. virtual machine (VM) - simple - snapshot/image

One of the best features about running a virtual machine is the ability to snapshot/image a running VM so that you can revert back to it in case of a misconfiguration or other issue that would be difficult to recover from.

This is also a great non-intrusive way to backup machines without pegging CPU cycles (driving up cloud hosting costs).

I was able to do this with VMs running in Rackspace cloud and I believe other cloud hosting providers allow it. Why not Azure? It would be very important.

  15. Offer SMB 3.0 support for Windows 7 machines.

We need an update to enable SMB 3.0 support for Windows 7 machines. Older projects using NET USE scripts to attach to Azure storage can no longer access their containers.
Windows 7 machines that use to access the file shares in a storage account can no longer connect to file shares using the NET USE command. As a long time user of Azure it feels like Microsoft has left us behind. Upgrading all our users to win 10 is not an easy task..

  16. Please keep "Red Hat Customer Portal" link in the Azure portal after restoring a VM

After restoring Azure Red Hat VM, "Red hat Customer Portal" link disappeared.
Please keep "Red Hat Customer Portal" link in the Azure portal after restoring a VM. This link is really useful.

  17. Allow a VM to be added to an availability set without recreating the VM

Currently after you have created a VM you are not able to add this to an existing or new availability set. It would be great if this was available function to be completed at any point during a VM's lifecycle.

  18. Give the ability to snapshot a VM

Want an easy way to snapshot a VM and restore to that point. The snapshot should capture all disks (except temporary storage) and provide an easy button poke to restore to that point as well.

  19. Add Hyper-V Replica for offsite backup

Allow us to send Replicas offsite for DR in case Azure goes down. Customers are not trusting cloud initiatives enough to move fully into the cloud without having an offsite backup.

  20. auto-startup

Currently there is the possibility to schedule auto-shutdown of VMs directly with the Auto-Shutdown blade. Why isn't there a similar blade for auto-startup? In addition of that for Auto-Shutdown and Auto-Startup if the schedule time can be scheduled not only as a single daily task but with more complex rule, example: from monday to friday, 9.00 18.00, weekend excluded or setting a scheduled date and time of shutdown, etc....
