problems creating a virtual ubuntu machine
i cant set up a virtual machine using ubuntu on azure. It askes me for a "SSH AUTHENTICATION KEY" every time ??? Icreated one on my windows pc and pasted the public key in there. But azure says that it's not valid. it took me 2 hours... and i don't know how to solve that problem. There is no help on azure. So what do i need to do?

same problem here. Every time I follow the instructions, the UI throws an error at me. Ignoring the issue prevents me from creating a VM. I already have 3 machines, I'm sure I've done them with puttygen... so I'm not sure what changed since then.

The following two commands generate the required ssh-rsa format:
"C:\Program Files\Git\usr\bin\openssl.exe" req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout myPrivateKey.key -out myCert.pem
"C:\Program Files\Git\usr\bin\ssh-keygen.exe" -y -f myPrivateKey.key
This is an example format which will work.
don't use this one however its just an example!!!

I have the same problem. It accept the key if i use the old portal, but the new one can't accept the key.
How are you creating the SSH key? Make sure you're using the "ssh-rsa <base 64 encoded>" format. The multiline format with "---- BEGIN SSH2 PUBLIC KEY ----" isn't supported yet.
