WSUS as a Service in Windows Azure
Microsoft needs to develop a WSUS as a service in Microsoft Azure with support for update domain in Azure. Perhaps it should be linked together with the System Center Advisor.

We are planning several improvements in this space that will enable better control over updates which are applied to VMs.

Is there any update about this Azure IaaS service to host WSUS as Azure Service? If this is going to take time, do we have any ready build Windows Service + WSUS role enabled docker image to host on Azure Container Service?

It would be great if this could be added a service endpoint to VNets along with the KMS service.

While this is not WSUS as a service, specifically, Automation Update Management exists in Azure as a service. When combined with a few other dashboards it is better than WSUS IMO. Keep in mind that Windows 10 machines in an Enterprise can peer cache Microsoft updates, thus providing a local cache of updates at each site.

I am replying to a 4 year old post because this post is the very first result when I began searching for WSUS as a service.

I believe the Update Management feature has addressed this need, at least in part. -

I see this was created in 2014, and there still isn't one - is this dead, or is there something that now exists that serves this purpose?

Our patching solution heavily relies on WSUS. It would be amazing if we can have WSUS as a Service in Windows Azure, saving huge cost...

This is needed quite badly. AWS has Patch Manager. It's easier to patch Windows on AWS than Azure!

This is exactly what we need. Our WSUS server died and we're migrating to the cloud. So, if I understand this thread correctly, you cannot put a WSUS server in the cloud?

This would be perfect for our remote class, Intune managed, Azure joined devices!

I'm looking for the same solution, a WSUS services that allow me to a keep update inventory status and my client connecting to internet to get the updates.
I don't need a server using hdd space when I can use this approach : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939920(WS.10).aspx. -

maybe add a option in the virtual network settings that you can configure "WSUS" (somethink like a own webbased WSUS configuration) for a vNET or someting like that.
