Mounting BLOB storage in file system like NFS
I just would like to mount a BLOB storage directory in a Linux file system like it was an NFS drive. Thanks to FUSE, a userlevel driver can be made to share files across machines.
Currently, if you need to share files between VMs you have to set up SAMBA or NFS having a "master" node that holds the main copy of the files, and other VMs mount these shares in their file systems.
Proposal: "see" a BLOB storage directory like a directory in the main file system. This idea can be extended to Windows VMs using shared folders
NFS or SMB? Please vote this up for NFS.
would really like this available vs General Storage account. having a blobstorage account would be good, b/c i can define those to be in different access tiers per container. How can i upvote this to be push dev into this, w/o using some 3rd package for Linux environment?
Anything similar for Windows OS coming? I found Dokany (https://github.com/dokan-dev/dokany). Any plans on supporting that?
Good news everyone! A Fuse adapter for Blob Storage is now available: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/linux-fuse-adapter-for-blob-storage/

try stonefly cloud drive in azure
NAS or iSCSI

In linux, 'something' and "Something" are completely different things. Casing matters. Not having nfs prevents us from having the ability to run certain applications on shared storage, like node applications.

NFS is better as in some cases...certain applications may not support SMB share...so you can give customers the flexibility to choose from SMB or NFS rather than restricting them to your choice...also as NFS is already supported in AWS...Also it would be great if you give the customers the power of creating their own Storage Area Network in Azure and utilize is as per their requirement. I know that storage account behind the scenes leverage a SAN but we dont have any control over it....would like to have that capability as well...

Need high performance NFS compatible shared storage for HPC scenarios. AWS have http://aws.amazon.com/efs/details/
Today blob storage can be mounted as CIFS/SMB. This satisfies my needs even if I don't really like SMB for its lower level of security (as I can rely on Azure's internal network). I'm removing my own votes from this
