The idea that a drive would be randomly assigned outside of our control is horrible!

I get compatibility, but the programmatic loss is appalling.

As "anonymous" says "I would like to be able to deploy a VM without either the DVD or floppy." particularly specified in an ARM template.

I would like to be able to deploy a VM without either the DVD or floppy. The DVD causes issues migrating an existing image into Azure as it uses a drive letter that may be used by the source, and PnP sometimes reorders the drive letters around that existing DVD, shifting them all up by one letter.
