  1. Virtual machine console access

There is no VMConnect capability for console access to the VM as there is with Hyper-V.

So in the situation where I lost connectivity, by misconfiguration, or system failure, is there only one very time and bandwith consuming way to fix it - download the VHDs on-premise, boot it in Hyper-V and VMConnect to repair VM, then upload all GBs back to the Azure...

I requesting console access, also with ability to mount some image for repair and boot from it (as we do it in standard environment).

  2. rename vm

Add the ability to rename a VM. The VM name is what appears in Azure, not the DNS name.

Changing a VM's name should not affect the VM in any way. If you need a unique identifier for a VM that does not change, I suggest using a GUID rather than the VM's name in Azure.

  3. Adding existing ARM virtual machine to availability set

Adding existing ARM virtual machine to availability set. I can't do much with certain setups cause they have to be in an availability set and I cant add them to one after they have been created.

  4. resize VM without reboot

Currently if you want to change the VM Size of Azure, VM is restarted. VM Resize shouldn't require downtime and it should be done in the backend. As CPU and RAM is still throttle when we use more resources then why can't we just remove the throttling limit and inform customer that VM is resized from A to D series when request is raised of resize?

  5. virtual machine list export to csv

When we go to All resources we can see Export to CSV button on top menu so that all the resources can be downloaded easily.

When we go to Virtual Machine there is no such functionality available.
There are lots of scripting needs to be done to achieve this and also previously we use to be able to copy and paste it into excel and it used to copy all the columns which we've selected. But that too isn't working now.

Can you please give us the functionality to export the VM details into CSV

  6. Support for Teams & SFB on Windows Virtual Desktop

With the release of Windows Virtual desktops on Azure, the multisession W10 offering does not support either of the Collaboration Tools, SFB or Teams. The support of these office apps with pass through support for peripherals is vital to make this offering viable. Please can this be looked at and delivered when the service goes public on Azure

  7. USB devices are not supported in Azure VMs

USB devices, like flash drives or hardware security dongles, would be useful to have present in the remote VMs. For example, support for dongle-controlled security for applications would then be possible.

  8. Enalbe SQL Server Edition Upgrade when paying by the minute in Azure VM

When SQL Server is purchased as part of an Azure VM and a subscription is setup to pay for SQL Server & the VM by the minute, it is not possible to upgrade the SQL Server Edition. The entire VM must be rebuilt which, while possible, can be very time consuming.

Request is to allow SQL Server edition upgrades within Azure VMs when paying by the minute for service. For example, a VM may be initially built with SQL Server Standard edition. This is my situation. I now have the need to use an enterprise edition feature (data driven SSRS…

  10. Change the default Azure temporary disk letter

Each Azure virtual machine comes by default with a Free and temporary drive, that is mounted in 'D:'
We all whish that Microsoft gives us the possibility to choose the letter of this temporary drive before deploying the VM.
Why ? Becasue the D: drive is the most used letter for data disks. This is a huge issue when migrating workloads from on-prem to Azure, and this is a real limitation.
I know there is a workaround to change the letter, but in case of unplanned fail over or host change, the temporary drive will be assigned the 'D:' drive,…

  11. Virtual Machine Console Access Part Deux

The previous post suggesting the addition of basic VM functionality was inappropriately marked "completed" serial console was added.

The serial console is better than nothing, but just barely, and was not at all what was being requested by that post.

What we need is a equivalent of the VMware Remote Console.

  12. Add ability to set VM resolution on creation

VM resolution by default is 1024 x 768

We use the VM's to run automation on a desktop application which requires a larger resolution to appear correctly.

Please add the ability to set a default resolution on creation.

Appreciate there are still limits on a VM resolution but should allow the freedom we need upto the limits.

We currently use a workaround with RDPwrap but this is far from ideal and does not work in all circumstances.

Providing the requested feature would eliminate a huge pain point and provide a much needed improvement to our user experience.

  14. Allow Cancelling a Running Command started via "Run Command"

    From this issue:

    https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs/issues/12741

We should have the ability to cancel a command started via "Run Command." This would primarily be to allow a new command to be started in its place, but the ability to (possibly) actually cease the command on the server itself could also be helpful.

The ability to store common scripts and run them would help make this "I just noticed a syntax error and want to try again" problem less of an issue, but that's already covered here: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/216843-virtual-machines/suggestions/34455544-run-command-browse-azure-storage-for-script

  15. Offer granular RBAC for virtualMachine serial console access

As confirmed via Support Case 119052326000457 there is one, and only one method, to grant access to a VM's serial console, which is to obtain the Virtual Machine Contributor role which may be a lot more privileged than an individual may need to do their job.

Within our organization it is important to follow the principles of least privilege wherever feasible. As such we want to be able to grant a support team access to a VM's serial console without that same team being able to make IaaS config changes to the VM (shutdown, reconfigure, etc.). This would help prevent…

  16. Low On Memory Error: Server 2016, B series

I just spun up a brand new Standard B1ms (1 vcpu, 2 GB memory), all I did was login to the VM and am getting out of memory errors (which would tell me windows server 2016 doesn't really support this level of VM size). Also it fails to retrieve updates - this is just a plain vanilla OOB/first run experience. Additionally you can't login and click the start button - you have to click it about 10 times to get the menu to pop up - this is probably more of a windows issue but I'd expect it to at…

The virtual machines of the B series do not inform about the bandwidth.

All series report about bandwidth except type B machines.

According to Microsoft they do not inform because it is a variant connection, but at least they should indicate the minimum and maximum.

As in all series in the NIC part, the bandwidth must also appear.

  18. Effective route tables for VMSS

As confirmed by PG in Support case 119091125000146 there is no way to query the effective route table for a VMSS instance, thus leaving 100% VMSS based infrastructures completely blind.

  19. Create an option to change a VM's availability set or availability zone in order to add it to a load balancer instead of having to delete it

It would be nice if there was an option to change a VM's availability set or availability zone in order to add it to a load balancer instead of having to delete it and recreate it in the availability zone. A feature to just reconfigure without deletion would save a lot of time and headaches.

  20. show size of VM images and which VM sizes they fit in

I went through a hot or miss effort to find a VM size that would not present the warning "The selected image is too large for the OS cache of the selected instance". It would be helpful to see the size of the images when selecting and a filter option when selecting VM sizes for the chosen image that fit into OS cache.
