  1. auto-startup

Currently there is the possibility to schedule auto-shutdown of VMs directly with the Auto-Shutdown blade. Why isn't there a similar blade for auto-startup? In addition of that for Auto-Shutdown and Auto-Startup if the schedule time can be scheduled not only as a single daily task but with more complex rule, example: from monday to friday, 9.00 18.00, weekend excluded or setting a scheduled date and time of shutdown, etc....

  2. Please keep "Red Hat Customer Portal" link in the Azure portal after restoring a VM

After restoring Azure Red Hat VM, "Red hat Customer Portal" link disappeared.
Please keep "Red Hat Customer Portal" link in the Azure portal after restoring a VM. This link is really useful.

  3. Support ECDSA SSH public key

It does not correspond to the ECDSA ssh key.
Can you support the ECDSA ssh key in order to be more secure ?

  4. Item descriptions

Having the ability to add a description to a service or virtual machine would be a welcome addition.

We have considered this. I wonder whether a simple Key-Value tagging would meet your needs here? This is something in our plans.

  6. Make it easy for me to know when my VM is being throttled

Knowing when throttling is the cause of your VM's performance woes is essential but there is no scalable way of monitoring when an Azure VM is being throttled. VM and disk maxims change according VM size and disk specification. Setting up alerts based on PerfMon and/or Metrics counters is, at best, laborious. Setting up the monitoring of:

    VM level throttling:
    IOPS: \PhysicalDisk(_Total)\Disk Transfers/sec (PerfMon)
    Throughput: \PhysicalDisk(_Total)\Disk Bytes/sec (PerfMon)

    Disk level throttling:
    IOPS: \PhysicalDisk(drive)\Disk Transfers/sec (PerfMon)
    Throughput: "\PhysicalDisk(drive)\Disk Bytes/sec (PerfMon)

    Storage account throttling:
    Max egress: Metrics\storage_account\Account\Egress (Azure Portal)
    Max ingress: Metrics\storageaccount\Account\Ingress (Azure Portal)
    *IOPS: Metrics\storage
    account\Account\Transactions* (Azure Portal)

    Does not…

  7. HTML5 RDP Access

We are in 2017. I want access to my VM in the browser. Downloading an RDP file is so 2007.

Dear Corey, do some magic and support HTML5 RDP access to my VM. One click and a new tab opens to my VM. Wow!

  8. "Resource created"date stamp , "User Created" stamp

We have a tagging policy and we feed this into the azure EA to monitor all our resources , The only thing is that when the system grows so large we have resources that we don't know who created and when they created them . If we had the option to see who created a resource and when we could delete old resources in our sandbox environment or contact the person who created them.

  9. Scale Set (VMSS) support for draining connections before destroying

When a VM scale set (VMSS) scales down, it needs to first take down the health probe and wait some period of time for connections to close before destruction.

Right now, how do you ensure a scale-down doesn't interrupt an active client connections to VMs that are being destroyed as part of the scale-down operation?

A first step might simply be providing a notification through the metadata service that destruction of the VM is scheduled (enabling us to handle taking down the health probe from inside the VM)

  10. Regional Settings for Windows VM

This request is submitted on behalf of one of my important customers.

When deploying Windows VM from Azure gallery image, we do not have the option to configure regional settings such as language/date format. By default, they are EN-US.

This will incur additional management overhead for customers that have a large deployment who has regional settings requirement. They have to log in the VM to change the settings accordingly.

The VM deployment interface (Azure portal and/or Azure PowerShell) should allow selection of different regional settings, just like the standard Windows setup does.

Please kindly let us know whether we have…

  12. Automatic Update Settings Virtual Machine - Turn On/Off Update

Turn On/Off the Automatic Windows Update for the Virtual Machine so it do not restart when performing a long-term job. This will make sure the Virtual Machine can be able to not restart when needed to. Lets say you need the virtual machine to work on a task that takes longer than one week, when it restart you will need to start all over again, and again, and again. Turn Off the update and the machine will do the task finished before it can automatic restart again.

  13. Create or specify existing Network Interface during VM creation

When adding a new VM via the portal you specify a network and subnet and the portal generates a network interface on its own during creation. It would be nice if we could either specify the name of that network interface to be created or to specify an existing network interface to use. Another option would be to allow network interfaces to be renamed or edited after creation.

  14. Granular Information about Azure Maintenance

Last week, I received a notification regarding Azure Maintenance that is scheduled starting 1st August - I have attached it here. The notification said "WestUS - First Half", "WestUS-Second Half" and so on. But currently, there seems to be no way of checking in which "Half" is our deployment. If this information is available on the portal in our subscription, it will help to identify when and how our services are going to be affected.

thanks for the feedback. I am hoping that this is the last maintenance (after we go through all the regions) that will be split in half like this.

  15. Add Hyper-V Replica for offsite backup

Allow us to send Replicas offsite for DR in case Azure goes down. Customers are not trusting cloud initiatives enough to move fully into the cloud without having an offsite backup.

  16. Auto-start of Virtual machines

The way we have option to perform Auto-Shutdown while creating Virtual machines it would be good to have option to configure Auto-Start on set schedule. For example while creating VM from portal we would be able to configure virtual machine to Shutdown at 19:00 (7 PM) Auto-Shutdown feature is already there. And if we want to start those VMs automatically at lets say 09:00 AM Auto start option should be there

  17. Allow parallel execution of RunCommand

Currently the Azure RunCommand only allows a single command to be executed at a time. It is also quite slow to start executing. It would be nice to have the command start executing faster and be able to run multiple commands in parallel.

  18. Provide Azure License Server as a Service

Most Azure VMs have the Windows license built into the pricing model which is great as we don't have to worry about licensing.

However when it comes to Remote Desktop Services VMs we need to provide our own CALs for each of the users that will connect to the server. This is a major pain point as the CALs are time consuming to obtain and a hassle to keep track of.

It would simplify things greatly if Microsoft could provide user licensing as a service on Azure, and allow us to manage the licenses through the portal.

    Then it would…

  19. Captured VM images are not displayed in new portal.

I captured VM generalized images by sysprep using classic portal.
But images are not displayed in new porta/ even though they are displayed in classic portal.
I told it is bug of new portal from Microsoft Azure Support Engineer.
By the way, customized images are displayed without any problem.
    Could you please fix it?

  20. Remove affinity group

Now that affinity groups are increasingly deprecated for some of their original purposes, it would be helpful to have an option to untangle existing items from an affinity group. In other words, I am looking for a way to delete an affinity group without deleting the items it contains (which would remain in the same region).
