  1. VMSS: 'AND'/'OR' option for scale in and scale out conditions in GUI

When two or more rules are added to the scale conditions, scale in has 'AND' operation and scale out has 'OR' operation. Looking for an option in GUI to select between 'AND' or 'OR' operation for both scale in and scale out rules.

  2. Display creation time of a Virtual Machine

We need to collect the VM creation time for auditing, however, the activity logs are reserved for 90 days, we cannot check the precise timestamp of creation. can we have this information display on the Portal somewhere? like Overview or Properties etc. Thanks.

  3. I would suggest to have visibility for the idle/unused VMs on Azure Portal

Currently, there is no way on the portal where we can identify VMs which has been idle/unused for certain span of time. It is important feature for Azure resource cleanup activity across all subscriptions.

Specifying CPU Options for Your Instance
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/instance-optimize-cpu.html
To disable multithreading during instance launch (AWS CLI)

Use the run-instances AWS CLI command and specify a value of 1 for ThreadsPerCore for the --cpu-options parameter. For CoreCount, specify the number of CPU cores. In this example, to specify the default CPU core count for an r4.4xlarge instance, specify a value of 8.
    aws ec2 run-instances --image-id ami-1a2b3c4d --instance-type r4.4xlarge --cpu-options "CoreCount=8,ThreadsPerCore=1" --key-name MyKeyPair

  5. Getting Duplicate search results for "Windows Virtual Desktop - Provision a host pool"

Getting Duplicate results coming for the following keyword in azure portal

Azure portal -> Create Resource -> type "Windows Virtual" in "Search the Marketplace" search box

"Windows Virtual Desktop - Provision a host pool"

  6. Offer 3/4 Constrained vCPU capable VM sizes

Currently Azure offers 1/4 and 1/2 Constrained vCPU sizes to assist with software licensing costs.
A 3/4 option would allow for a smaller price jump when nearing the capability of 1/2. The cost jump when including SQL Enterprise from half to full is effectively double.

Specifically I would like to see a DS13-6_v2 allowing the use of 6 of the 8 cores.

  7. virtualize intel vt-x/ept or amd-v/rvi to allow HAXM

I would like Windows VM's to support nested virtual machines, so that I can use HAXM for Android VM for the purpose of using a Windows VM for mobile development.

  8. Request new feature : Converting existing unmanaged VMSS to managed VMSS.

    the scenario is
    1. we has an existing VMSS with unmanaged os disk already
    2. we want to convert to managed os disk in this VMSS.

currently, it supports signle VM to migrate from unmanaged os disk to managed os disk, but it does not be supported for VMSS scenario.

the current solution is we have to buildout a new VMSS with managed os disk and move our service from old VMSS to new VMSS, this has high risky(for exmaple, move the data from old VMSS to new VMSS, etc.),

  9. Return vm information when querying with only vmid

If I only have the vmId, I'd like to be able to query ARM only with that to get the VM data instead of needing the RG and VM Name too.

  11. Increase the amount of data that VM Run Command can return

The Invoke-AzureRmVMRunCommand currently has a 4K limit on the returned payload.

I frequently need to return logs and listings that exceed the 4K limitation!

  12. Ephemeral OS disk for B-Series SKUs

We need Ephemeral OS disks for B-Series SKUs. We use B-Series SKUs extensively in our labs while production deployments mostly use E(S)v3 and D(S)v2/3 SKUs.

With the current limitation, we can't deploy Ephemeral OS disks in our production deployments as we can't test them in our labs without incurring significant cost for using the more expensive D/E SKUs.

  13. End of Life date of gallery image versions not deleting images after date has passed

When creating a Gallery Image version you can define the end of life date. I would expect that this image would be automatically deleted once this date has passed. Instead versions still remain available.

  14. Clone VM without sacrificing the original to the "sysprep" gods

I often set up Linux VMs with attached disks, and need to 1-click clone the VM to make new ones for parallel work.

For some reason Azure requires us to prepare the VM for a ritual sacrifice with "sysprep" or something, and destroying the original magically makes a clone-able VM. If I need to make modifications I have to re-deploy and then re-sacrifice again. This seems way too complicated.

  15. Add option to control VM agent log placement and rotation

Currently all the agents that can be deployed onto an Azure Windows VM log into two hardwired folders: C:\WindowsAzure and C:\Packages\Plugins.

Also, much (all?) of the actual agent binaries are also placed in these files, including any newer versions.

Unfortunately neither the logs, nor the older defunct binaries are removed. Using 30+ Windows VMs for around a year, with Diagnostic Agents, Backup Agents, DSC lcm, and others. Neither of these clean up any of their "litters" generated during their operation.

This means, the above folders (especially WIndowsAzure) continues to grow indefinitely. Currently these are on around 3-5GB of size for…

  16. Custom VM Sizing

Allow for custom sizing of CPU and RAM (and possibly other schedulable resources like GPUs) in VM provisioning. This provides greater flexibility in workload scheduling than standard SKUs, and enables higher level tooling to take advantage of this for more sophisticated purposes.

  17. Automatic snapshot before Windows Update installation (IaaS)

Sometimes Windows Update problems can cause major issues with Azure VMs, therefore is it possible to create functionality where the OS can notify Azure before it installs updates, and then at this point Azure can take an automatic snapshot?

  18. Make it easy to create virtual desktops for SMBs

The number and complexity of the steps for a new MVD is mind blowing. Need to reduce and make it simple to create and access a virtual desktop with an existing ms account if you want to open up the market.

  19. Display VM Image information in the portal

When creating Azure Compute Resources you need to specify the following Parameters in order to request a VM:

    Offer
    Publisher

    Sku

Getting this information can be very hard because these information are only displayed in the "Export template" section after you created them.

I think, that it would be way better if we could fetch these Information from the Marketplace Item page. (See attached picture)
