  1. VMSS rolling updates on custom images

    Allow rolling updates on custom images.

    Currently if you build a custom image and create a VMSS with it you have to manually "roll it out" via upgrade. Seems silly when the image is housed and built just like any other. were just talking about watching the upgrade process by way of the VM's "upgrade status"

    seems doable not sure why its held back, especially when the VMSS set knows its "not current"

  3. JIT access on VM blade should behave exactly like it does in Security Center

    JIT is a great part of the product. From the Security Center blade it allows a user to open a specific IP (MyIP) that they are connecting from. I can whitelist IPs, ranges, etc, or allow them to whitelist any specific IP of their choice.

    When using JIT from the VM blade it simply places the whitelist (or * if no whitelist is present) into the new NSG rule. I would like the VM blade's implementation of JIT to match with the Security Center implementation. In my use case I want to allow users to open individual IPs, tied to…

  4. Disable Server Manager on startup

    Please configure Windows Server images on Azure not to load Server Manager on startup (as EC2 does). This is a slow loading and resource consuming app that's mostly unnecessary for Azure VMs, and it's slowing down connecting to the machine via RDP.

  5. Creating a Low Priority VMSS using Portal has FD count bug

    When creating a VMSS with Low Priority, FaultDomain Count is set to 5 by default.

    "spreadingAlgorithmPlatformFaultDomainCount": {

            "value": "5"

    Obviously this is a bug, because Low Priority VMSS only supports Single Fault Domain
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machine-scale-sets/virtual-machine-scale-sets-use-low-priority

    If we go with the default value, we got FD count error.

    Deployment failed. Correlation ID:
    {
    'error': {

    'code': 'InvalidParameter',

    'message': 'The value of parameter platformFaultDomainCount is invalid.',
    'target': 'platformFaultDomainCount'

    }
    }

    I think this needs to be fixed in Portal Front-end side.

  6. Ephemeral OS disk for B-Series SKUs

    We need Ephemeral OS disks for B-Series SKUs. We use B-Series SKUs extensively in our labs while production deployments mostly use E(S)v3 and D(S)v2/3 SKUs.

    With the current limitation, we can't deploy Ephemeral OS disks in our production deployments as we can't test them in our labs without incurring significant cost for using the more expensive D/E SKUs.

  7. Make deleting VMs faster

    Currently it takes more than 10 minutes to delete a single VM. This is too slow, please make it faster.

    Deleting a VM should be something that can be done in less than one minute like it is with other cloud platforms.

  8. Azure Fence agent

    Azure Fence agent - Need to reduce the failover time from 10 -15 Minutes to minimum

    If you do not want to invest in one additional virtual machine, you can also use the Azure Fence agent. The downside is that a failover can take between 10 to 15 minutes if a resource stop fails or the cluster nodes cannot communicate which each other anymore.

  9. Serial Console from Az/PowerShell

    We should be able to connect to an interactive serial console session using Az and pipe commands to it, etc. I'd also like to see something like this for Az PowerShell akin to the PSSession or invoking VM commands with the agent.

    Having to use it from the browser is not always the most ideal, we have procedures known issues we have encounter that require booting Windows VMs into Safe Mode and invoking commands on them doesn't seem to work in Safe Mode

  10. Migrate VM from Vnet

    It would be a great idea having a solution that would allow to migrate the VM from one Vnet to another with just a simple drop down button and selecting the desired Vnet

  11. Allocation failed. We do not have sufficient capacity for the requested VM size in this region

    When is this problem going to be fixed? This article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/troubleshooting/allocation-failure was written in early 18 so it's clearly been forgot about.

    We were told to move to ARM from Classic as this problem was mitigated but if anything it's worse. In the entire West Europe region, we can only provision 19 d14_v2s at any given time!

  14. Provide an API to tell whether a promo VM size is expired

    There doesn't seem to be any way to tell via the VM APIs that a promo size is expired in a region.

    Eg, in West US, the "list sizes" API includes promo sizes like StandardDS3v2Promo in the result, and the usages API says I have quota for standardDSv2PromoFamily, so it looks like I should be able to create a StandardDS3v2Promo VM, but I can't.

    There needs to be a way to tell this programatically. "Look in the portal, it's grayed out" is NOT an API. "Read this blog post" is NOT an API.

    Maybe…

  16. Request new feature : Converting existing unmanaged VMSS to managed VMSS.

    the scenario is
    1. we has an existing VMSS with unmanaged os disk already
    2. we want to convert to managed os disk in this VMSS.

    currently, it supports signle VM to migrate from unmanaged os disk to managed os disk, but it does not be supported for VMSS scenario.

    the current solution is we have to buildout a new VMSS with managed os disk and move our service from old VMSS to new VMSS, this has high risky(for exmaple, move the data from old VMSS to new VMSS, etc.),

  17. Export "Virtual Machines" information to CSV

    Add the "export csv" function on the "Virtual machines" page to let user export the content in VM List.

    As some relationship information (e.g. Private IP Address, Custom Tags, VM Sizing) which not covered by "All Resources" page, but they are very useful & important for admin and planning purpose.

  18. Increase the amount of data that VM Run Command can return

    The Invoke-AzureRmVMRunCommand currently has a 4K limit on the returned payload.

    I frequently need to return logs and listings that exceed the 4K limitation!

  19. Save ssh public key in azure profile

    When creating a Linux virtual machine in Azure, there is a choice of authentication type between password and ssh public key. When selecting the ssh public key, I have to paste in my public key. Everytime, I do this, I have to look up my public key, and cut and paste it into the dialog box. Please allow us to store multiple keys within our azure profile, and simply select the keys (plural) we wish to have included in the authorized-keys file.

  20. End of Life date of gallery image versions not deleting images after date has passed

    When creating a Gallery Image version you can define the end of life date. I would expect that this image would be automatically deleted once this date has passed. Instead versions still remain available.
