  1. Support Windows 10 with Azure Accelerated Networking. Please!

    Currently Windows 2012 and 2016 support Azure Accelerated Networking. Can you please add Windows 10 to the list. As more and more virtual desktops are deployed to Azure this is coming an increased important.

  2. Windows Virtual Desktop - User Assigned Personnel Desktop

    In WVD enable the feature to assign a user to a personnel Session Host in PowerShell and the WVD Web UX

    This will allow users to pre-assign users to their own VDI host in Azure that can be pre-staged with the apps that user will need, giving more flexibility to the WVD Service.

  3. Notification for the capacity for requested VM size

    It is quite critical that we could receive the notification for running out of the requested VM size.
    In our customer, the allocation failure was happened in the following critical scenarios:

    • Restoring VM in Azure Backup

    • Failover in ASR
    • Starting VM

    Getting that notification earlier, they can avoid the error by considering another size.

  4. to make traceroute and mtr work in Azure Linux VMs

    Even after enabling firewall rules, it is not possible to do traceroute and mtr in certain Azure Linux flavors (particularly CentOS).
    NMap works, so it is only traceroute that is the problem. Kindly add support for traceroute.

  5. show size of VM images and which VM sizes they fit in

    I went through a hot or miss effort to find a VM size that would not present the warning "The selected image is too large for the OS cache of the selected instance". It would be helpful to see the size of the images when selecting and a filter option when selecting VM sizes for the chosen image that fit into OS cache.

  6. VMs KVM Console. VMs console access without RDPing to IP or Public IP.

    It is important to have VMs console access through console without RDPing to IP or Public IP. E.g if a user wants to run ISO Image at the time of boot.

  7. Offer vCPU constrained AMD EPYC VMs

    Currently vCPU constrained VMs are only available on Intel technology. A VM like "E16a-8s_v4" would be ideal for medium-sized SQL Server platforms.

  8. Build feature for offline patching of VMs and VHDs

    It would be great to have the ability to patch virtual machines and VHDs offline, this would enhance security and tremendously ease management of VHDs in a shared image gallery!

  9. Thin provisioned disks. Reduce the size of a disk

    I do not like the fact there are no thin provisioned disks.

    Moreover you can not even reduce the size of the disk

    I do not like these supposed "gotchas" which can cost a lot more money

    127GB standard for a O/s drive for example is a complete overkill

    I will also explore whether defaults can be changed for such things as location so things do not point to the US if you are based in the UK for example. Instructor today told me no in training.

  10. Expose the kernel version as a property of VMimages

    From: https://github.com/Azure/azure-powershell/issues/10458

    3rd Party programs, such as AV software describes it's pre-requisites as Kernel Versions, not just OS versions and never in terms of Azure VM Image SKUs
    e.g. RHEL 7.7 kernel 3.10.0-1062

    get-azvmimage -Location eastus -PublisherName Redhat -Offer RHEL -Skus 7.7
    should return an object with a property named KernelVersion or Kernel

  11. B Series Burstable Unlimited Mode

    The B Series family should offer an "Unlimited" mode for bursting. So when a workload runs out of credits to burst, if the mode is set to unlimited, the vm will be billed at higher rate instead of just dropping down the allowed average. (Like the AWS featuer for T3)

    Customer always need to query vm shotdown timestamp. It would be convenient for users to view the time on portal directly.

  13. Create rescue VM directly from portal

    I'm aware of the rescue VM scripts for Azure VMs, however it would be handy to have a 'rescue' button in the portal which does all of the steps i.e. creating snapshot, new rescue VM (maybe hypervisor), attaching disk, etc.
    This would be a big time saver when troubleshooting a failed VM

  14. Allow users to use the Azure serial console with the Virtual Machine User Login role instead of Virtual Machine Contributor.

    Users do not need to create virtual servers and do not need to create and manage virtual machine scale sets. However, I want to manage the OS by connecting a serial console from the Azure portal.
    Even in an environment where SSH connection is not possible, the Azure portal can be opened, so we want to be able to perform OS maintenance with a serial console connection from there.

  15. Support ZRS for Virtual Machine boot diagnostics & diagnostics settings

    Here's the scenario: You deploy VMs across availability zones 1-3. You enable boot diagnostics and diagnostics settings and are forced to use LRS/GRS. You opt for one of those. Later Zone 2 goes down, and the storage cluster with the storage account also goes down (bound to Zone 2). And now you lose essential storage for the VMs in Zones 1 and 3, potentially breaking services if any of those VMs reboot or attempt to boot up/deploy.

    Other services are perfectly fine supporting GPv2 ZRS for zone redundancy. VMs being a primary candidate for zone redundancy also should support GPv2…

  16. JIT access on VM blade should behave exactly like it does in Security Center

    JIT is a great part of the product. From the Security Center blade it allows a user to open a specific IP (MyIP) that they are connecting from. I can whitelist IPs, ranges, etc, or allow them to whitelist any specific IP of their choice.

    When using JIT from the VM blade it simply places the whitelist (or * if no whitelist is present) into the new NSG rule. I would like the VM blade's implementation of JIT to match with the Security Center implementation. In my use case I want to allow users to open individual IPs, tied to…

  17. Give the virtual machine contributor role all rights needed to create a functional virtual machine

    The Virtual Machine Contributor role currently lacks rights to create a new network interface on a virtual network for a new VM to be able to actually be used.

    It seems that is a key permission that would be required for someone to be able to contribute new virtual machines.

    Network contributor is too broad if you need operations engineers to be able to add new VMs but not be able to change any other vNET settings.

    So currently you need to set up a custom role for someone to be able to fully deploy new virtual machines.

    It would…

  18. ED25519 & ECDSA key format support

    Hi,

    It would be nice to be able to use key in ED25519 and ECDSA format on Azure when we want to connect to our GNU Linux on EC2.

    Thanks,

    David

  19. Creating a Low Priority VMSS using Portal has FD count bug

    When creating a VMSS with Low Priority, FaultDomain Count is set to 5 by default.

    "spreadingAlgorithmPlatformFaultDomainCount": {

            "value": "5"

    Obviously this is a bug, because Low Priority VMSS only supports Single Fault Domain
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machine-scale-sets/virtual-machine-scale-sets-use-low-priority

    If we go with the default value, we got FD count error.

    Deployment failed. Correlation ID:
    {
    'error': {

    'code': 'InvalidParameter',

    'message': 'The value of parameter platformFaultDomainCount is invalid.',
    'target': 'platformFaultDomainCount'

    }
    }

    I think this needs to be fixed in Portal Front-end side.

  20. Serial Console from Az/PowerShell

    We should be able to connect to an interactive serial console session using Az and pipe commands to it, etc. I'd also like to see something like this for Az PowerShell akin to the PSSession or invoking VM commands with the agent.

    Having to use it from the browser is not always the most ideal, we have procedures known issues we have encounter that require booting Windows VMs into Safe Mode and invoking commands on them doesn't seem to work in Safe Mode
