  1. Delete VM with all associated resources

Deleting a VM is a lot of click work. I have to manually delete the associated Network interface, Network security group, Public IP address. And then, from the associated storage account, I have to drill down into the VHD container in the right Blob to delete the associated .vhd and .status files.

Also, I have to do it in the right order, because there are dependencies between the various objects. If not, it fails, and I get a big fat pink error.

Also, the overview list does not refresh after the 'success' notification is posted, so I sit there guessing…

  2. Bulk adding endpoints

Is there a way to add more than 1 endpoints at a time? If not I think this would be a great feature. Thanks.

  4. Share the SharePoint Server Farm creation scripts

The Marketplace contains a gallery item to create a SharePoint Server Farm. Can the items (scripts/extensions/etc) that are used to create this be shared as a sample that we start with to build our own custom SharePoint Server Farm solutions on top of?

  5. Options to set waagent.conf variables (Linux)

The linux (Ubuntu) machines are not really persistent when shutting down and/or capturing, the waagent.conf is not read properly (even when capturing an image, a new image based on the capture does not include changed settings in waagent.conf).

It would be nice to have the waagent.conf setting configurable at start up, when creating the virtual machine.

There are a few bugs we are working through to address these issues:

    1) Hostname changes are not persistent across reboots on Ubuntu. This is an issue we are working through on cloud-init which we should have fixed soon: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/+bug/1375252

    2. Customers cannot use the waagent.conf file to change the location of the local disk mount point or set up swap space in a consistent way. We are working through how to fix this wit these two bugs:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1374115

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1374166

  6. Yes, Need to know when a virtual machine reboots.

There needs to be an email sent when a VM is rebooted. You can do that now if the processor on the VM goes above a certain threshold.

We do plan to add support to indicate when a VM has rebooted in the operation logs. We will investigate whether to also add support for emailing in this situation but i like the idea.

  7. Dynamics AX Machine

A Dynamics AX machine (the usual demo machine) could be really useful!

  8. Found a bug creating VM's in Azure

When creating new Virtual Machines from Gallery (Standard Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter)
On Page 3 there is a problem attaching the new VM's to a Virtual Network.

But if I change the Cloud service (DDL) to an existing Cloud service, the Network information is displayed. After that I can change it back to auto generate a new Cloud Service. But keep my Virtual Network configuration.

It would be nice if the Virtual Network where visible from the beginning when creating many virtual machines in a network.

    See screendumps that is attached.

    Best regards,
    Tobias Jonsson

  9. BUG: Creating a Linux VM with SSH certificate from portal fails

I'm trying to create a Linux virtual machine (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, 7/25/2014 release) in a virtual network. Whenever I specify an SSH certificate instead of a password, I keep getting an error that the machine creation failed. The certificate upload succeeds, however.
This has happened in the past as well, but I didn't worry about it then since I was focused on a PaaS deployment. Please fix this! If it's a matter of some required settings combination not being met, please highlight that in the UI.

  10. Allow multiple reserved IP addresses be assigned to a single VM

Currently you can only have one reserved (static) public IP for a given Azure VM. This limits any case where you would want to run multiple SSL enabled sites/applications on the standard 443 port.

I understand there is support for SNI SSL with host headers but not all applications and devices support this feature. Current competition in you market allow up to 5 IPs. A limit I believe is still arbitrarily low given the power of your larger VM instances available.

  11. Stopped vs Stopped (deallocated)

Today VMs can be in a stopped or stopped(deallocated) state. This is an important distinction for billing purposes as the stopped state continues to bill for resources and stopped (deallocated) does not. Needless to say this is confusing because the portal (old version) has a "Shutdown" command that puts the VM in the Stopped(deallocated) state but if you "shutdown" from within the VM it is just in a Stopped state.

PLEASE MAKE THIS DISTINCTION MORE CLEAR!! :-)

The new portal for managing VM only shows my stopped (deallocated) VMS as just Stopped. This is totally confusing.

    Thanks!!!!

  12. VM logs

Currently, there are no logs of operations such as create VM, joining the VM to domain, enabling remote PS on VM, failure to run/create VM etc. Azure should work on making of the VM logs better in IAAS subscriptions.

  13. Fix link on error message for server not stopped on capture VM

In a VM on the Azure portal, click Capture on a non-stopped vm. Click the down arrow to expand the message. Click learn more link. Link heads to a generic microsoft.com page rather than an article.

  14. Enable to manage your own endpoint list.

Allow to manage (add/edit/change endpoints) to the default presented endpoint list. Example I from time to time need to enable special endpoints times in a repetitive manner. this will allow save my settings in the cloud and avoid me to keep a record of the settings I use.

A option to reset to default will be also handy.

  15. Microsoft Antimalware for Azure Needs a GUI for Monitoring and Management

I have been researching the Microsoft Antimalware for Azure which is currently in preview. I think that the idea behind this product is fantastic. There was a real gap in the market for customers who want to run VMs on Microsoft Azure. So I am glad to see that Microsoft is offering a service which addresses the need to protect Azure VMs from viruses.

Unfortunately, the current release of Microsoft Antimalware for Azure is extremely difficult to deploy, configure, and manage. The main reason for this is the lack of any UI for the administrator or end user. To do…

  16. Don't require me to "add an Azure disk" to make it usable with a VM

If I create a virtual machine using the Azure management portal, or the PowerShell module, I have to "add a VHD blob as a disk" before I can associate it with the VM as a OS disk or data disk.

Why is this extra step required? A VHD page blob is already a "disk," so why do I have to go through extra effort just to make the VHD blob able to be associated with a VM?

When creating an Azure VM, I should be able to specify a URI to a VHD blob as my OS disk, or data…

  17. Don't send me Virtual Machine Maintenance emails if I don't have any VM deployments

The virtual machine maintenance window emails are annoying and I guess it is sent to every single Azure customer. I'm just a blob storage user and should not be receiving those emails.

  18. Retrieve VM meatdata information from within the VM

I am using Cassandra. Cassandra is a distributed DB (http://cassandra.apache.org/).

Every record is replicated across a configurable number of nodes.
To ensure HA the nodes holding the replicas are selected in different racks. In the Azure cloud the analogy of a different rack is a different Update Domain (for comparison in AWS the analogy is different Availability Zones).
    See more information here http://www.datastax.com/documentation/cassandra/2.0/cassandra/architecture/architectureDataDistributeReplication_c.html

The nodes communicate with each other in p2p protocols and share the "rack" information among themselves. Every node is aware of the network topology of all the other nodes in the cluster including which rack…

Thanks for the feedback. Improved reporting from within the VM is something we will look at improving.

  19. Upload VHDX

A support for uploading VHDX images would be great. With that it wouldn't be necessary anymore to migrate a VHDX to VHD before.
