  1. VMs and multiple screens

    Enable a straighfoward way to configure screen resolution and screens used per VM.

    Example: Local machine has 4 screens, allow Azure to configure the following set-up:

    Screen 1 and screen 2 -> VM1

    Screen 3 and screen 4 -> VM2

  2. Allow DevTest labs 'Set virtual machines per user' to be overridden

    I'd like to be able to override the number of virtual machines I, as a lab owner, can create while keeping the policy enforced for lab users.

  3. Serial Console from Az/PowerShell

    We should be able to connect to an interactive serial console session using Az and pipe commands to it, etc. I'd also like to see something like this for Az PowerShell akin to the PSSession or invoking VM commands with the agent.

    Having to use it from the browser is not always the most ideal, we have procedures known issues we have encounter that require booting Windows VMs into Safe Mode and invoking commands on them doesn't seem to work in Safe Mode

  4. Deploy VM with Static IP at build stage

    When deploying a VM it would be nice to be able to set the IP address to static rather than having to change it static after the VM is deployed

  5. ED25519 & ECDSA key format support

    Hi,

    It would be nice to be able to use key in ED25519 and ECDSA format on Azure when we want to connect to our GNU Linux on EC2.

    Thanks,

    David

  6. Export report certification on where VM is located

    We would like to receive, for a given VM a pdf or similir that declare that the VM running on location X as expected. For example, I create a VM that run into North-Europe, I would a certification that this VM run into this location.

  7. restore vm azure cli

    restore vm should be an option in the Azure CLI. It can be done through the portal to a point in time and there is a similar feature for dbs that makes automation easier. Any thoughts?

  8. The Virtual Machine Contributor role should be able to take and manage snapshots

    The virtual machine contributor role should be able to manage all aspects of virtual machines.

    Currently the role does not have the ability to take snapshots of disks attached to VMs which is a standard administration task for managing VMs.

    It shouldn't be necessary to need to create a custom role for this.

  9. new scenario

    We are observing the NVA's cpu utilization was low, but the network flows (total of inbound and outbound) has gone up above 250K and the users experiences delayed performance as Microsoft Azure has a limitation of 250K network flows per VM. 250K may be a good baseline for normal workloads but definitely not for NVA.

  10. Jenkins Azure Plugin Modification: Deinitialization Script

    In certain instance auto-provisioned Azure based Jenkins nodes may have done some specific setup or modifications for an external portion of another system. If a deinitialization script could be executed before the Azure plugin begins teardown of the node this would allow for an easy automated cleanup.

  11. Capacity alert for virtual machine

    [Problem]
    Users cannot know the high utilization event happens in the selected region until they file a new support request.
    In result, user will experience the allocation problem.

    [Solution]
    The alert regarding the above will make users avoid the burden of support request and to consider trying other sizes.

  12. ARM support for Generation 2 VHD

    I need to create a Generation 2 VM in Azure from a Gen 2 VHD using an ARM Template. The idea here is to support this via ARM templates. Example:
    "osDisk": {

            "osType": "Windows",

    "createOption": "Attach",
    "managedDisk": {
    "storageAccountType": "[parameters('diskStorageType')]",
    "id": "[resourceId('Microsoft.Compute/disks/', concat(variables('rras01VMName'),'-OsDisk'))]",
    "vmGeneration": “2”
    },
    "caching": "ReadWrite"
    }

  13. I would suggest to have visibility for the idle/unused VMs on Azure Portal

    Currently, there is no way on the portal where we can identify VMs which has been idle/unused for certain span of time. It is important feature for Azure resource cleanup activity across all subscriptions.

  14. Create an option to change a VM's availability set or availability zone in order to add it to a load balancer instead of having to delete it

    It would be nice if there was an option to change a VM's availability set or availability zone in order to add it to a load balancer instead of having to delete it and recreate it in the availability zone. A feature to just reconfigure without deletion would save a lot of time and headaches.

  15. Allow Exceptions to Azure Monitoring for VM

    A number of our Azure VM are encrypted with Bitlocker - as you know this creates a a logical disk of 30MB. The problem with this, is all VM's are flagged as critical with "Logical Disk Free Space (MB)"

    Is there a way to put an exception in for all VM's across all resource groups, or for a clever way to Azure to detect this automatically.

  16. to make traceroute and mtr work in Azure Linux VMs

    Even after enabling firewall rules, it is not possible to do traceroute and mtr in certain Azure Linux flavors (particularly CentOS).
    NMap works, so it is only traceroute that is the problem. Kindly add support for traceroute.

  17. On AWS, the user can control CoreCount of EC2(VMs). I hope that Microsoft Azure provide more flexible options to control vCPUs for VM Size.

    On AWS, the user can control CoreCount of EC2(VMs). I hope that Microsoft Azure provide more flexible options to control vCPUs for VM Size.

    Specifying CPU Options for Your Instance
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/instance-optimize-cpu.html
    To disable multithreading during instance launch (AWS CLI)

    Use the run-instances AWS CLI command and specify a value of 1 for ThreadsPerCore for the --cpu-options parameter. For CoreCount, specify the number of CPU cores. In this example, to specify the default CPU core count for an r4.4xlarge instance, specify a value of 8.
    aws ec2 run-instances --image-id ami-1a2b3c4d --instance-type r4.4xlarge --cpu-options "CoreCount=8,ThreadsPerCore=1" --key-name MyKeyPair

  18. Disable Server Manager on startup

    Please configure Windows Server images on Azure not to load Server Manager on startup (as EC2 does). This is a slow loading and resource consuming app that's mostly unnecessary for Azure VMs, and it's slowing down connecting to the machine via RDP.

  19. Allow users to use the Azure serial console with the Virtual Machine User Login role instead of Virtual Machine Contributor.

    Users do not need to create virtual servers and do not need to create and manage virtual machine scale sets. However, I want to manage the OS by connecting a serial console from the Azure portal.
    Even in an environment where SSH connection is not possible, the Azure portal can be opened, so we want to be able to perform OS maintenance with a serial console connection from there.

  20. show size of VM images and which VM sizes they fit in

    I went through a hot or miss effort to find a VM size that would not present the warning "The selected image is too large for the OS cache of the selected instance". It would be helpful to see the size of the images when selecting and a filter option when selecting VM sizes for the chosen image that fit into OS cache.
