  1. Add update status/duration to alerts -- and then allow alert status to color the pinned tiles of items such as VM's or Websites

This is a two part suggestion
part 1: We should have alerts based on items like how long a VM has been running or how long it has been shutdown.

Part 2: Have pinned titles that are normal or smaller have a color code based on alert status - green = healthy, red = alerts have triggers, grey = no alerts configured

That way we can easily see in the preview portal if a VM or website that should have been up isn't, or if one that SHOULDN'T BE running is running longer than planned.

    (Note; it would also be…

  2. Provide an hours notice for any Underlying Host reboot that isn't Automatic/service healing

For any underlying host reboots that happens on Azure there are always reboots that Azure can give prior notice about, it could be a hotfix you are applying to your host or you found an issue with the host and you need to reboot. If you gave us an hours notice instead of just rebooting hosts and in-turn VMs as and when you want, then we could have ramped up to 3 or more VMs to ensure we retained the high availability. The small increase in cost for this we are prepared for. We are not prepared for random (to…

  3. Temlate for Managed Access ACL for Endpoints

Templates for Managed Access ACL for Endpoints. Currently ACL is available but you need to go to each VM and for every port open to add the permit/denied exceptions. We want to be able to create Templates so that we could choose from a drop down list when managing ACL configuration.

  4. Support entering a '0.0.0.0/0' subnet for endpoint ACLs

This doesn't work for VM endpoints in the Azure Preview portal. :(

  6. Cannot log into Win 10 (after updating to latest build) anymore

I cannot log into my VM running Windows 10 (after installing the latest update) with remote desktop anymore. Authentication failed.

  7. custom script extension

we are heavily relying on custom script extensions to automate our setup.
This is done via the java azure SDK.
recently linux CSE has been upgraded to 1.3.
    All our CI processes broke.
it turned out 1.2 has been comletely removed. 1.3 configuration might have changed.
All this happened unannounced, the code on github seem to be old. Are the extensions something one cannot rely to be always available ? should one rather create a custom image manually ?

  8. On the virtual machine panel please provide a visual indicator (color, shape, etc) to indicate if a machne is running or not.

Currently when viewing multiple VMs it can be very difficult to see which machines are running and which are not. There is a text indicator but they all tend to run together. The old portal had a visual indicator so that at a glance you could see what was running. A visual indicator of a color and or/shape would make it very easy to see which VMs are running.

  9. Retrieve (expose through API) Performance & Diagnostic data for Azure Virtual Machines

At least basic metrics like the ones exposed in Azure Portal should be exposed for Virtual Machines through the REST API.

Also adding metrics should be available

  10. Rename virtual machines

When deploying machines from Life Cycle Services, the machines are deployed with a cryptic id as name. This makes it very hard to maintain in the azure portal when you work within a large organization where a large portion of machines are deployed.

  11. Allow the queuing of endpoint operations

When one tries to add two endpoints to the same vm in a row (for example, http and https), the second operation will invariably fail because the first operation is still ongoing. This is very counter-intuitive. Please either allow the queuing of endpoint operations or don't allow me to enter the second one while the first one is still in progress.

  12. VM Image with AD LDS Server Role

The use of Vm from azure seems to be growing. Many customers would love to be able to have a light version of AD running on the VM image that gets created.

  14. Give the ability to snapshot a VM

Want an easy way to snapshot a VM and restore to that point. The snapshot should capture all disks (except temporary storage) and provide an easy button poke to restore to that point as well.

  16. Allow the layout for an individual Virtual Machine to be copied as a template

The new portal gives a really simple yet rich view of the information for your virtual machines and the ability to customize the layout, sizing and information for each element is quite useful.

What would be really handy is to create a layout for an individual VM data page but then save it as a template and be able to apply to another. Thereby giving you a consistent view for each VM and not having to do it manually every time.

  18. Bug in Azure Preview Portal : Connect to a VM

I can not Connect (RDP) a VM (Windows) just deployed in Preview Portal.

Connect is possible using "Old" Portal

  19. Make RDP Connections Work For VMs

In the old portal when I browse a VM and select "Connect" the RDP connection opens pre-populated with the correct connection details. In the new portal, it opens with no remote address.

  20. Ability to move Virtual machines between suscriptions

We work with projects creating a suscription for each project. That way we can have control of how much money we expend on the windows azure service.
But sometimes, we would like to reuse existing machines that we used in one suscription to a second suscription for a different project.

I know we can replicate VM, o use backup disk, etc, but it would be so much easier if we have an option to just move one VM from one suscription to another suscription. It seems very easy and is only for accounting issues.
