  1. Vm consistent Snapshot

Ability to create Vm consistent snapshot of all disks at once without the need to shutdown the same way it works on on-premises hyper-v/vmware

  2. VMs KVM Console. VMs console access without RDPing to IP or Public IP.

It is important to have VMs console access through console without RDPing to IP or Public IP. E.g if a user wants to run ISO Image at the time of boot.

  4. End of Life date of gallery image versions not deleting images after date has passed

When creating a Gallery Image version you can define the end of life date. I would expect that this image would be automatically deleted once this date has passed. Instead versions still remain available.

  5. Automatically generalize VM's upon image creation

In the Azure Gov online portal, if you create an image from a VM it will enter a fail state because it is an unprepared image. Microsoft will direct you to these docs for creating a generalized VM: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/upload-generalized-managed. All of this should be done during image creation, and new VM's created from those images should work out of the box

  7. Deletion of files that make up a VM

I'd like the option to delete all files that make up a VM. The delete option is very misleading and can lead to a mess behind the scenes.

In VMware there is a "remove from inventory" and a "delete from disk".

I have only been using Azure for a few weeks and there are too many things I think designed to catch customers out and make more money for Microsoft. It means people have to be very, very careful Here are some things:

    1. C?: drive 127GB with premium SSD as standard
    2. No thin provisioned disks
    3. You pay…

  8. Thin provisioned disks. Reduce the size of a disk

I do not like the fact there are no thin provisioned disks.

Moreover you can not even reduce the size of the disk

I do not like these supposed "gotchas" which can cost a lot more money

127GB standard for a O/s drive for example is a complete overkill

I will also explore whether defaults can be changed for such things as location so things do not point to the US if you are based in the UK for example. Instructor today told me no in training.

  9. Add ability to set VM resolution on creation

VM resolution by default is 1024 x 768

We use the VM's to run automation on a desktop application which requires a larger resolution to appear correctly.

Please add the ability to set a default resolution on creation.

Appreciate there are still limits on a VM resolution but should allow the freedom we need upto the limits.

We currently use a workaround with RDPwrap but this is far from ideal and does not work in all circumstances.

Providing the requested feature would eliminate a huge pain point and provide a much needed improvement to our user experience.

  11. Offer granular RBAC for virtualMachine serial console access

As confirmed via Support Case 119052326000457 there is one, and only one method, to grant access to a VM's serial console, which is to obtain the Virtual Machine Contributor role which may be a lot more privileged than an individual may need to do their job.

Within our organization it is important to follow the principles of least privilege wherever feasible. As such we want to be able to grant a support team access to a VM's serial console without that same team being able to make IaaS config changes to the VM (shutdown, reconfigure, etc.). This would help prevent…

  12. virtual machine list export to csv

When we go to All resources we can see Export to CSV button on top menu so that all the resources can be downloaded easily.

When we go to Virtual Machine there is no such functionality available.
There are lots of scripting needs to be done to achieve this and also previously we use to be able to copy and paste it into excel and it used to copy all the columns which we've selected. But that too isn't working now.

Can you please give us the functionality to export the VM details into CSV

  13. Virtual Resource Deletion process

I have suggestion wrt to deleting a resources,I think we need to create a process while creating a VM,That this resource will follow a deleteion approval process to make sure its not delted without MFA andhas to be retained for 24 to 48 hours for saftey puprose

Virtual Deletion is a simple process but it has to be equal to physical security not from data perspective but also from physical deletion perspective ,

so when someone deletes a resource it cannot just go away like that which may increase the customer fear of cloud computing when compare to Physical computing,

  14. Add word "Local" to the reserved words list for username when creating Windows VMs in Azure

When creating VMs, if you use the username "local" and choose a password the user account 'local' does not get created on the OS. Instead, the Administrator account gets enabled and the password you attempted to set for a user called "local" is set on the Administrator account.

This caused confusion during RDP to the OS, as the expected username to use was "local" - however, the account does not exist on the OS.

A potential fix would be to block the use of "local" as a username, similarly to how the username "Administrator" is reserved from use.

  17. Clone VM without sacrificing the original to the "sysprep" gods

I often set up Linux VMs with attached disks, and need to 1-click clone the VM to make new ones for parallel work.

For some reason Azure requires us to prepare the VM for a ritual sacrifice with "sysprep" or something, and destroying the original magically makes a clone-able VM. If I need to make modifications I have to re-deploy and then re-sacrifice again. This seems way too complicated.

  19. Add option to control VM agent log placement and rotation

Currently all the agents that can be deployed onto an Azure Windows VM log into two hardwired folders: C:\WindowsAzure and C:\Packages\Plugins.

Also, much (all?) of the actual agent binaries are also placed in these files, including any newer versions.

Unfortunately neither the logs, nor the older defunct binaries are removed. Using 30+ Windows VMs for around a year, with Diagnostic Agents, Backup Agents, DSC lcm, and others. Neither of these clean up any of their "litters" generated during their operation.

This means, the above folders (especially WIndowsAzure) continues to grow indefinitely. Currently these are on around 3-5GB of size for…

  20. VMSS rolling updates on custom images

Allow rolling updates on custom images.

Currently if you build a custom image and create a VMSS with it you have to manually "roll it out" via upgrade. Seems silly when the image is housed and built just like any other. were just talking about watching the upgrade process by way of the VM's "upgrade status"

seems doable not sure why its held back, especially when the VMSS set knows its "not current"
