  1. VM ID (UUID) - Display on Azure Portal Virtual Machine Overview Panel

Both AWS and Google display the unique ID of an instance on the main virtual machine display in their web portal.

It seems overly burdensome to require API calls or meta data calls from the interior of the VM to see it.

Could it please be put on the Azure portal.

  2. enforce auto shutdown of VMs

I would love to be able to automatically enforce a shutdown of all VMs under a subscription, so if someone spins up a VM it would automatically amend the auto shutdown policy. Where only the subscription admin can override it.

  6. "Japanese version Windows OS Azure virtual machine image"

I have an inquiry from a customer who wants to use "Japanese version Windows OS Azure virtual machine image".
Sometimes I have the same question from other Japanese customers.

Please change to be able to select "Japanese version Windows OS Azure virtual machine image" in Azure Marketplace.

  7. Provide an easy way to check if the VM diagnostic logs are stored in the specific storage accounts

    Hi Team,

Could you please provide our customer an easy way to audit if the VM diagnostic logs are stored on the specific storage accounts?

We will suggest to add the new alias Microsoft.Compute/virtualMachines/extensions/settings.StorageAccount into the swagger spec, then we can use Azure Policy to audit the storage account name.

    Thanks so much.

  8. Missing "WithPlan" method when creating VirtualMachineScaleSets

Need to create a Scale Set, with the method VirtualMachineScaleSets in the library Microsoft.Azure.Management.Fluent. Used the image with Urn "microsoftiotedge:iotedgevmubuntu:ubuntu1604_edgeruntimeonly:1.0.1" from the market place.

    Methods Used:
    WithSpecificLinuxImageVersion, WithLatestLinuxImage and WithSpecificLinuxImageVersion

All of these methods gave the error "Creating a virtual machine from Marketplace image requires Plan information in the request".

Using a different method and image "WithPopularLinuxImage(KnownLinuxVirtualMachineImage.UbuntuServer1604Lts)" information about the plan is sent, however with other methods the plan information is not available.

Using the same library to create a Virtual Machine, it implements an interface called "IWithPlan" and adds a method…

  10. History of scheduled event

For the maintenance that doesn't require a reboot, customers can know it only through Scheduled Events API.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/maintenance-and-updates?toc=/azure/virtual-machines/linux/toc.json&bc=/azure/virtual-machines/linux/breadcrumb/toc.json#maintenance-that-doesnt-require-a-reboot

Several customer requests easier way to grasp the affected resources and that history (e.g. dashboard).

  11. Add ephemeral OS disk support for Spot instance Virtual Machine Scale Sets (vmss)

In the past you could create low priority vm scale sets with an ephemeral os disk. This feature was dropped when spot instances were introduced. Please add ephemeral os disk support for spot instance vm scale sets.

  12. View number of cores without hyperthreading

Provide an AZ Powershell cmdlet to view the number of CPU cores, not logical cores on a given VM or vm SKU. This will make it easier to audit licensing requirements for software that is licensed per physical core, not hyperthreaded logical core.

  15. CSE executed before cloud-init

    Hello,

I have an ARM template with VM + CSE script to be executed.
I've provided a cloud-init config through customData parameter.

    My cloud-init looks as follows:
    $ cloud-config
    package_upgrade: true
    package_update: true
    packages:
    - libssl-dev
    - libffi-dev
    - python-dev
    runcmd:
    - curl -sL <a rel="nofollow noreferrer" href="https://aka.ms/InstallAzureCLIDeb">https://aka.ms/InstallAzureCLIDeb</a> | sudo bash
    - az aks install-cli

Within the CSE script, I'm trying to run az login command, but I keep getting an error az: command not found.

When I ssh into VM, I can see az working just fine.

    Actual behavior

I've looked through logs, and this is what I…

  17. Get-AzVM does not return the correct ComputerName from the console if the host name was changed

In the VM portal the Computer Name is taken from the host name of the machine.

If you update the host name, the portal will reflect this under "Computer Name" - but querying this via Get-AzVM does not update, if you use OSProfile.ComputerName it still uses the old name

  18. add Nvidia T4 based GPU as VM

The T4 based virtual machines are available in AWS (its G4DN line) and these are good both for ML and also graphic intense operations.

For us it enables our product to support ray tracing which is not supported in older gen GPU's

  19. Add the ability to set the max IOPS the SQL / Windows Backup Extension will utilise

There should be the ability to set the max IOPS that either extension will utilise during backup operations.

We've a SQL workload that can be adequately served by the resources of a certain VM size other than when backups are taken (as the DB is 100GB+).

When backups run our Availability Groups are flapping due to VM disk throughput throttling causing the backups to fail.

We have therefore had to upgrade the VMs just to allow the backups to run. The VMs are now significantly underutilised during BAU.

We don't have access to the SQL Server Resource Governor as we…
