  1. creation of public private key pairs on the portal

    When deploying a new Linux based VM, create a shortcut to create a SSH keypair and download the private/public key straight from the portal... saves downloading puttygen or similar..

  2. B Series Burstable Unlimited Mode

    The B Series family should offer an "Unlimited" mode for bursting. So when a workload runs out of credits to burst, if the mode is set to unlimited, the vm will be billed at higher rate instead of just dropping down the allowed average. (Like the AWS featuer for T3)

  3. Creating a Low Priority VMSS using Portal has FD count bug

    When creating a VMSS with Low Priority, FaultDomain Count is set to 5 by default.

    "spreadingAlgorithmPlatformFaultDomainCount": {
    "value": "5"

    Obviously this is a bug, because Low Priority VMSS only supports Single Fault Domain
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machine-scale-sets/virtual-machine-scale-sets-use-low-priority

    If we go with the default value, we got FD count error.

    Deployment failed. Correlation ID:
    {
    'error': {
    'code': 'InvalidParameter',
    'message': 'The value of parameter platformFaultDomainCount is invalid.',
    'target': 'platformFaultDomainCount'
    }
    }

    I think this needs to be fixed in Portal Front-end side.

  4. resize VM without reboot

    Currently if you want to change the VM Size of Azure, VM is restarted. VM Resize shouldn't require downtime and it should be done in the backend. As CPU and RAM is still throttle when we use more resources then why can't we just remove the throttling limit and inform customer that VM is resized from A to D series when request is raised of resize?

  5. I suggest you make Azure less complicated

    , let users supply their own iso's with simple user interface and let users deploy their linux vm with a simple user interface like the way vmware is setup. I dont have to pick a group or container, I don't need this or that I just need the vmware software and an iso. That's why Linux and Microsoft have had such a difficult history of co op, linux is simple and straight forward little bells and whistles, Microsoft just adds layer and layer and layers of junk.

  6. (Linux + d2_v2 + dedicated) Why not on Azure China ?

    This link could lead you to think we may have it.
    https://docs.azure.cn/zh-cn/virtual-machines/linux/
    The same way we have it with Azure Global.
    But no! Why is that Microsoft cannot have a standard offer and impose its subcontractors (here 21Vianet) to match the Standard?
    My coffees at Starbucks and Costa in Shanghai respect the respective standards.
    Thank you to urge this matter as we are now forced to consider AWS just to host our VMs with Ubuntu.

  7. Windows Virtual Desktop - User Assigned Personnel Desktop

    In WVD enable the feature to assign a user to a personnel Session Host in PowerShell and the WVD Web UX

    This will allow users to pre-assign users to their own VDI host in Azure that can be pre-staged with the apps that user will need, giving more flexibility to the WVD Service.

  8. Allocation failed. We do not have sufficient capacity for the requested VM size in this region

    When is this problem going to be fixed? This article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/troubleshooting/allocation-failure was written in early 18 so it's clearly been forgot about.

    We were told to move to ARM from Classic as this problem was mitigated but if anything it's worse. In the entire West Europe region, we can only provision 19 d14_v2s at any given time!

  9. Tweak the design of the Azure dashboard to increase usability and new customer on-boarding/understanding

    Following discussions with the Azure support team I just wanted to provide feedback on my experience (as a relatively new Azure customer) in understanding and using the Azure portal.

    While I managed to muddle through in provisioning resources, when it came to de-allocating a VM I was hit by an unexpected resource charge as I hadn't realised the additional resources (e.g. SSD storage or networking) required for the VM to function would not also be de-allocated. This, along with the lack of visibility of this when you log-in, meant I spent 2 months thinking I had de-allocated the VM and…

    Requesting to consider and develop option to migrate the inplace os upgrade for both Linux and Windows. For Example RHEL 6.x to 7.x etc...

    This is a genric future plan or view any clients would have and this blockage in cloud is some way blocking the plans for few clients.

    Please consider.

  11. Keep an audit log of commands run using "run command"

    Currently, the script and its output are stored locally on the VM. A subsequent "run command" could erase or modify this information, creating a security issue with root/administrator access being possible without an audit trail of what was done. Because the names of these files are predictable, a "run command" job could even modify or remove its own job records, a related, but slightly different security issue.

    My suggestion is to store the script contents and output within an Azure blob so that we could restrict the ability to modify information about what was run and its output.

  12. Allow Cancelling a Running Command started via "Run Command"

    From this issue:

    https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs/issues/12741

    We should have the ability to cancel a command started via "Run Command." This would primarily be to allow a new command to be started in its place, but the ability to (possibly) actually cease the command on the server itself could also be helpful.

    The ability to store common scripts and run them would help make this "I just noticed a syntax error and want to try again" problem less of an issue, but that's already covered here: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/216843-virtual-machines/suggestions/34455544-run-command-browse-azure-storage-for-script

  13. Increase the amount of data that VM Run Command can return

    The Invoke-AzureRmVMRunCommand currently has a 4K limit on the returned payload.

    I frequently need to return logs and listings that exceed the 4K limitation!

  14. Save ssh public key in azure profile

    When creating a Linux virtual machine in Azure, there is a choice of authentication type between password and ssh public key. When selecting the ssh public key, I have to paste in my public key. Everytime, I do this, I have to look up my public key, and cut and paste it into the dialog box. Please allow us to store multiple keys within our azure profile, and simply select the keys (plural) we wish to have included in the authorized-keys file.

    Currently Windows 2012 and 2016 support Azure Accelerated Networking. Can you please add Windows 10 to the list. As more and more virtual desktops are deployed to Azure this is coming an increased important.

    Allow Linux encrypted OS disk settings to persist through generalization and image creation to avoid having to wait hours or days for a new virtual machine to be encrypted after deployment.

  17. API Request: Add support for batch operations on VMs

    (Copied from GitHub Issue https://github.com/Azure/azure-rest-api-specs/issues/6545)

    Currently, there is no way to perform batch operations on VMs. In cases where a fleet of VMs need to be stopped/started, individual API calls must be made for each VM in the fleet--which is incredibly tedious. The compute RP should support batch operations for common tasks, such as starting, stopping, and getting the power status of multiple VMs.

    This functionality is supported on other clouds and a consistent pain point for those trying to replicate logic written for AWS on Azure.

  18. In order to bring your own linux license, Linux VM has to be built from command line, instead of GUI.

    Microsoft should have better communication to let end-user know it.
