  1. notify customers of waagent updates that that are necessary to keep old vms working properly with azure fabric

We have been bitten many times by waagent / azure fabric upgrades that cause the networking or other fabric related functionalities to fail as a result of outdated versions of waagent. It would be prudent on Microsofts part to alert customers in some manner, whether it be email or the portal, of such changes for vm's that may be affected by an upgrade to either of these pieces.

Without any sort of bi-directional console, rebooting a server and not having it come back up due to an an outdated waagent that now cant acquire an ip from the azure fabric…

  2. indicate through the cli/portal when a instance is actually reachable.

The cli json output only indicates when the provisioningState: "Succeeded" however there is no indication in the json or through "az vm list" when the instance is actually reachable (via ssh or RDP).

This is particularly important when you created an automation workflow dependent on when the instance is reachable. The reach-ability is quite variable dependent on whether it is a GPU instance (NC or NV) or one of the compute (F -series) instances.

  3. Consistent SCSI target IDs across reboots

Linux SCSI target IDs change across reboots resulting in some really strange ordering of sda, sdb, sdc etc. Sometimes the ephemeral disk ends up on the end of the list, sometimes the data disk(s) go to the front. It's near impossible to import workloads into Azure with this device inconsistency.

  5. Azure Linux Customized image support improvement

    [Issue Description]
Create CentOS 7 VM from customized image but got the error "Failed to get dvd device"

    https://github.com/Azure/azure-linux-extensions/issues/282

After re-install waagent on the custimized image, the issue still persist, though the issue didn't occur on the image from Azure gallery

    [Target]
Please help improve the customized image support and if any automation tool provided is great.

  6. VM creation interface

Currently, you need to type in all the server details before you are able to select basic features of your machine (i.e. you need to type in a username, password/key, resource group) before you can select machine type.

You should be able to see whether you are able to create the VM you need before having to do all that housekeeping, especially if you need to check across regions or subscriptions.

  7. waagent - allow swap size as percentage

Please add a waagent setting to allow swap size on resource disk to be specified as percentage - either percentage of resource disk size or percentage of total physical memory .

Reason: It would enable a single custom image with swap settings specified that can be used on multiple VM sizes.

    SMB shares larger than 5TB

We need 18TB for application backups so I susspect that 25TB shares would be a starting point

  9. Allow me to create GPU based Lunux machines

Want to test and use neural network libraries like tensor flow on GPU linux machines. AWS has a couple of GPU options and also VMs in market place with Tensor flow installed. Please allow me to do the same.

  10. Show the assignment list of device path for data disks.

We didn't find the assignment list of device path for data disks.
We want to check this data more easily. For example, we can find the assignment list in the management portal.

    disk name A - \sdc\
    disk name B - \sdd\ etc...

  11. Please do not force move the user to new protal

Most of our admins are accustomed to the old portal and force move to the new portal which looks completely different and definitely has a learning curve will severely affect our business.

  13. Please incorporate support for RHEL in Azure

    Hi team,

At present, Azure does not support RHEL even though it supports other variants of Linux like CentOS. Please incorporate support for RHEL in Azure as it's one of the common Linux platform used across the globe.

  14. Please engage Microsoft support engineer when supporting CentOS

Please engage Microsoft support engineer when supporting CentOS

I filed SR tickets to OpenLogic regarding CentOS kernel, but still no response.
I request Microsoft Azure Support Team to support and investigate Cent OS itself.
If there is kernel bug in CentOS, I hope Microsoft Azure Engineers contact OpenLogic directly as official communication path.

  15. Migrate VM direct from the Hyper-V server to azure.

Adding your azureaccount existing Hyper-V Server´s and migrated optional vm to the azure or just replicate any VM to azureaccount.

  18. How attach Data Disk for /opt folder

As OS hardening process, I want to attach Data Disk for /opt folder, as there is no single user mode to move the existing /opt files in to Data Disk and mount volume for /opt folder.
How to mount extra Data volume for /opt folder?

Even I tried by De-Provision the VM and attach the OS Disk to other, Then Copied the /opt files from the OS disk into a new data disk and make entry FSTAB(OS Disk FSTAB file) entry to mount new disk on boot. Then I provision the VM with that disk attached, everything in vein.
    please…

  20. Localization about descriptions of gallery images

Descriptions of gallery images are provided ONLY in English. Some of them include very important information for Azure users. ( ex. NOTE in the description for CentOS 6.6 image)

Please translate descriptions so that every user can read them more easily.
