  1. Add fully patched (i.e. up to date) Windows VM templates to the gallery

Often the first thing I have to do after provisioning a new Windows Server based on a gallery template is installing all updates that have come out since that template was generated. Why doesn't Azure have up to date templates that already contain the latest patches? This would save me a lot of time.

So what I'm asking for: regularly updated templates for Microsoft OS-es that provision VMs that are fully updated to the latest patch level.

  2. stabilize windows virtual machine provisioning / starting time

It is hard to teach in class when provisioning and starting a windows VM takes hours. Not a pleasant introduction to azure.

  3. Allow Windows 7 and Windows 10 Clients!

I joined Azure with the intent of setting up a complete disaster recovery network with servers and clients. But, I immediately discovered that you don't allow client PCs. This is crazy. Typical Microsoft. Will see if AWS allows Windows client computers.

  4. VM remote access

We found the setup process and options really good. However, the simple process of accessing the VM via RDP has been impossible. We've tried changing the account password that was used to setup, the RDP port etc but eventually gave up as it was proving to be a waste of time. Azure looks like a great product but sad we could never see the full show! Any one else have this problem?

  6. Automated backup for VMs running SQL Server 2014

The max retention range for configuring backups on Azure VMs running SQL Server seems to be 30 days. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/Dn906091.aspx

Could we have options to increase the retention period? This will make it a good archival solution.

  7. Auto scale

Introduce Options to Auto Scale based on Memory parameter . Right now the options are limited to CPU and Queue Length . Queue Length would not make sense for a VM.

  9. may be bug

    Hi,

I have created a instance of virtual machine named 'ark-java8' for test.
after the test, I deleted it.

and I created another instance, and deleted it, too.

again, I create another instance, it's name is 'ark-test-kk'.

But its instance name is set to 'ark-java8' and DNS host name is 'ark-test-kk.cloudapp.net'.

It will be shown in a image attached. Left top is 'ark-java8' and Bottom right is 'ark-test-kk'.

    I think it is bug.

    with best regards,
    koichi kurahashi

  11. vip

Permit a limit increase where a deployment requires more than 5 VIPs. This would be beneficial for customers that host multi-tentant applications with more than one public site name.

When creating an ACL Endpoint I always have to google the CIRD values. will be helpful to have table like this to pop up. or an option to generate the CIRD based on a range.

  13. Speedup VM boot up

When I tried to create a Windows VM it took forever for it to become available. That's absolutely unacceptable!!!

  14. Info in Pricing FAQ is wrong.

    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-machines/

    Go to FAQ - General
"If my deployed instance says stopped, am I still getting billed?"

    In the Table, STATE="Stopped"; BILLED="No".
But Details = "If the VM is stopped (...) the software is not billed. For allocated stopped VMs, the cores are still billed".

    So, BILLED should be "Yes"

  15. 3.5GB of RAM is insufficient for moderate workloads

Despite the best efforts from OSG, Windows Server still consumes a considerable amount of RAM even when stripped-down. Add to that the memory usage by an instance of a local SQL Server (when Azure SQL is inappropriate or too costly) it's easy to hit the 3.5GB memory limit and suffer disk thrashing.

I would like to see the memory allocations doubled at each instance tier level, though you can retain the CPU core count. If doubling is not economically feasible please extend the "Memory Intensive" range to offer a 2-core, 7GB option ($140/month?).

Question: why is memory doled out at…

  16. USB devices are not supported in Azure VMs

USB devices, like flash drives or hardware security dongles, would be useful to have present in the remote VMs. For example, support for dongle-controlled security for applications would then be possible.

  17. VM Fails when upgrading DS4, stops working with DS13

I was upgrading my VM from 4 cores to DS4 which is the smaller 8 core. Wouldn't do it, and failed everytime I tried. I then upgraded to DS13 which is another 8 core with more memory and that worked. Tried to go back down to the DS4, but failed again. After a day the DS13 crashed and wouldn't start back up, even when restarting from the portal. I then had to try to upgrade to DS14 which is 16 cores which I didnt need but it worked. I shouldnt have to pay this extra money for hardware I dont…

  18. Let me run Windows10 UWP Apps (or code) in Azure

With Windows10 universal apps I can now run my code anywhere...except in Azure. I'd like to run that common code on a server in Azure as well.

My use case is this. I have some complex logic using Win2D and the new MediaComposition libraries that combines images, video, audio and other media into an output video. (By the way, it's too complex for Azure Media Services today.) In cases where my customers aren't on Windows 10 (or on a Windows device at all) I'd like to run that logic in Azure and let them download the results. I really don't…

  19. Generate Power Shell Script instead of creating the VM

It would be useful to be able to go to through VM Wizard and instead of creating the VM at the end you had the option of generating a script to do the job.

In fact this would be a really useful feature for many of the portal wizards.

It would teach you Azure powershell as well as make your life easier by allowing you to quickly spin up environments.

  20. Blobcache for A series

I want more performance of OS C:/Temp D:/Data drives to A series virtual machines.
Blobcache of DS series work nice performance for OS C:/Temp D: and also non-premium storage's Data drive cache.
