Scripting and Command Line Tools

Azure provides two command line tools – PowerShell and Cross-Platform CLI – for you to manage your Azure subscriptions, accelerate your development and automate tasks via scripting, no matter whether you are on Windows, Mac or Linux.

If you have any feedback on Azure PowerShell or Azure Cross-Platform CLI, we’d love to hear it.

  1. SharePoint enviornment cofigure in windows azure

At least provide a one tier enviornment configuration Poweshell script

  2. Deploying VMs For SharePoint Farms

It would be good to have a script that deploys VMs (and possibly the infrastructure) for the various Microsoft supported SharePoint Farm configurations. An independent script ie AutoSPInstaller could come along and install SharePoint and configure the farm

  3. Generate documentation for your subscription by iterating over the Resource Groups & listing all details

It would be great if there was a PowerShell script that was able to generate documentation (.txt would be fine..) for your subscription. Listing all resources and their details.

  4. New-AzureRmIntegrationAccountMap more mapTypes

I am deploying maps using New-AzureRmIntegrationAccountMap.

I want to deploy Xslt20, Xslt30 and Liquid with powershell.

When do you plan to add more mapTypes?

  5. Allow Azure Portal to correct display the Diagnostics Settings for VMs when enabled via az cli

When using az CLI commands to enable diagnostic settings for VMs, the portal still shows it to be off. Please remedy this.

  6. azure cli available IPs of subnet

Currently we can retrieve total available IPs of Vnet subnet(s) from Portal UI. But there is no way to get the same from Asure CLI. Suggest to add this function in AZ CLI similar to the following:

    az network vnet subnet show

  8. upload and create vm with own os disk

When i have a local (OS based) VHD file. I want to upload the VHD and create a new VM from that VHD. I can't find one clear explanation on how to do this. Uploading a VHD and mark it as an OS disk is okay but how to create a VM with that VHD as a bootable disk?

  9. Azure SDK for PHP - Support for CLI (az) - az vm create \

Do you have plans to add CLI (az) support to Azure SDK for PHP? I am looking to start/stop/create an Azure VM via PHP code.

I can do the same today via CLI (az) - az vm create \

    Regards Graham

  10. Download billing information

Script automation of billing download, so that when the end of the month arrives there is a copy of the bill with the actual costs not just resource consumption. This will enable visibility of historic Azure costs for token or prepay customers, which is not currently possible.

Even better would be to enable configuration of the billing information so that cost by tag or resource group can be readily calculated.

  11. Script Emulation

Often when someone writes a script and would like to test it out if its script will work or not, there should be a way to emulate the script behavior on Azure modules. I know Powershell ISE but still a lot of templates such as ARM is missing. Hope to see Microsoft delivering a Powershell emulator for writing powershell scripts for Azure soon.

  12. RBAC

Hi Team,Regarding the RBAC Roles. Unable to revoke a user role it is simply showing Failed to remove the user@123 as a owner for abcsd01.It will be great if the reason is mentioned for the failure.we are able to remove the role using Powershell . So it will be great if error is shown with proper explanation.

  13. Korn Shell Interface for Azure vs Powershell

Most of Big enterprise workloads are having Korn Shell. Well typically most automation programmers are lazy to adapt to powershell.

Having said the same If Azure provides a Korn shell command line interface there will be a little concern of the OS for that matter as things work people will not complain.

  14. Allow tagging of all eligible resources via Powershell

Currently, there are several types of resources that cannot be tagged via Powershell, for example, OperationsManagement/solutions. It is very tedious to have to use both Powershell and Command Line to input tags when the rest of a resource group can be tagged simply by scripting tag application down from the RG level.

  16. Enable updating of ADO keyvault-linked variable groups via rest api

Currently if you try to update an ADO variable group via the REST API, if it is linked to KeyVault then a successful update will break that link and instead place new variables into the group. I'd like to be able to create a new secret in Key Vault then add it to a new or existing variable group linked to that keyvault without having to fall back on using the ADO portal GUI.

  17. How about removing the old incorrect scripts, like for SQL Database?

Please contact me - these scripts for SQL Database are extremely old and way out of date.

  18. block "azure cli"

Provide functionality or feature may be through Azure CAP to block AZ CLI access for normal users, as a Security best practice.

  19. Stop\Start VM in same cloud service

As we know we could not start or stop the VM at same time in one cloud service.

I have googled for the script to do it. - PowerShell script which stop\start one VM first, once it get successfully started other job should initiate.

I got a script as such in below link
    https://gripdev.wordpress.com/2014/03/01/start-and-stop-azure-vms-and-more-in-parallel-from-powershell/

but It not worked for me as I am not good at PowerShell.

    My idea

Why to trouble the customer with script as above link stated.

We need to get a pop up window once he type a cmd to stop multiple vms in single cloud…
