  1. re-Open source Azure storage explorer again

Although the storageexplorer.com site is nice and light weight and it's great how often the app is being updated. There isn't a clear mechanism to provide feedback.

It would be great to more clearly deprecate the codeplex site and project deco on github and open source the latest app.

    • CLI 2.0 needs the equivalent of Get-AzureRmProviderOperation or "azure provider operations show".

Get-AzureRmProviderOperation in PowerShell and "azure provider operations show" in the CLI 1.0 provide valuable information when creating custom RBAC roles. There isn't an equivalent command in CLI 2.0.

      • BUG: Can't access Azure Subscription via Visual Studio Server Explorer when using RBAC

Our dev's access is configured via RBAC in Azure. Now they can't use Visual Studio Server Explorer to access the Azure Subscription.

        • Support for detecting port from Docker container other than the .Net Core app

Our configuration includes an nginx proxy in front of .Net Core. When using the Visual Studio Tools for Docker, it attempts to detect the exposed port from the .Net Core application container, and uses it to launch the browser.

However, when I add the nginx proxy to the docker-compose.yml file, I'd like it to instead get the port from the proxy container, which is then forwarding to the application. Currently, it fails with an error "Can not find any host ports in the conainer 'xxxx'" and i have to lookup the port number myself from Docker.

          Allowing this would mean…

          • Docker tools fails with proxy error

            Hi there,

I am trying out the docker tools for VS2015 but my very simple test fails at the PrepareForLaunch build task due to a Proxy error.

I didn't know what URL it is trying to call (or why as I just want to test this locally) and presume the proxy needs to be set somewhere...

            Here is the stack trace:

            • Ability to login Visual Studio Server Explorer with RBAC accounts.

One of the customer wants to connect Azure from Server Explorer. Cloud Explorer is not enough because it won't show all subscriptions if the customer has several Active Directories.

This is the related post below. But it is completed as of now, so I created a new one.

              • Fail the build if the Azure SDK version is not compatible with OS Family

When attempting to publish a cloud service via Visual Studio (2015) the deployment only errors out after the package is uploaded.

Sample error message: "The SDK package you are trying to deploy is not supported by the operating system you have chosen."

It would be nice if the VS publish process could check this at compile time.

                • Azure SharePoint Online Migration Powershell - Add Delta Copy Function

Add delta copy capability to Azure SharePoint Online Migration Powershell.

The current SharePoint Online Managament Powershell cmdlets allow great migration speed via Azure to SharePoint Online. namely

                  New-SPOMigrationPackage
                  ConvertTo-SPOMigrationTargetedPackage
                  Set-SPOMigrationPackageAzureSource
                  Submit-SPOMigrationJob

The glaring oversight is that once a migration is performed one cannot perform a delta migration of files that have been modified since the original migration. The cmdlets will only migrate new files and will not migrate existing files with modified dates later than the original.

HUGE oversight as the migration has to be performed from scratch again after deleting the SharePoint files completely.

                  Please add this functionality!

                  • Azure SDK for .net core

So, we released .net core 2 months ago. It's new, fast, cool, cloud ready and etc.

But Cloud is not ready to .net core, because we have no .net core SDK!

Please, refactor and publish .net core compatible version of sdk.

Include option to set OS properties for a virtual machine via Azure CLI during its creation, similar to PowerShell via Set-AzureRmVMOperatingSystem cmdlet, with options like -ProvisionVMAgent, -EnableAutoUpdate, -TimeZone etc.

                      • Attach debugger to all w3wp processes, not just one

A multi-site/application cloud service (several Site or VirtualApplication elements in .csdef) means multiple IIS processes (w3wp.exe). They are typically started on demand which means one is started initially, and others on the first request to that site/application.

When running in the emulator, F5 only attaches the debugger to that first process... but not to the additional ones, as it should.

To debug a multi-site/application webrole correctly (i.e. to have the debugger attached to all appropriate processes), we have to develop a custom VSPackage which pings all URLs to start the additional processes, and then attaches the debugger to them... this…

                        • Exclamation mark is wrongly used

Publishing web/worker role shows exclamation mark during updating. It is "wrong" icon as it stands for "Warning" in Visual Studio. It would be good to replace it.

I recommend [cloud icon]+[build down-arrow icon] image instead.

                          • Deploy-AzureResourceGroup.ps1 slow to upload artifacts

The Azure Resource Group project no longer uses AzCopy to upload artifacts to a storage blob container, but uses Set-AzureStorageBlobContent which is much much slower!

This has a big impact as we have many linked templates and may web deploy packages to upload.

Thanks, Anthony – we’ll take a look at options here. Our preference is not to put AZCopy back into all projects (though you could easily add in the interim) but to try to make the cmdlets faster – open to your thoughts on that…

                            • Paged result access for all resources in Azure SDK for Java

The OperationResponse class provides functions (getNextLink()) to retrieve the next page of results if the number of those exceeds a threshold. However, only implementations of VirtualMachineOperations and ResourceGroupOperations could perform this kind of operation (with listNextLink()). I don't see this function or its equivalent on other kinds of resources. Could you please confirm and fix that?
                              Thanks.

                              • Azure Sync Framework Services

I would like there to cloud service synchronization database With support for Sync Framework.

This new service will be called something like: Azure Sync Services.

                                Especially for synchronization of n-layers.

A service with full support for Sync Framework, would be accessed through a edpoint as well as currently operating Azure Mobile Services .

In this case, this new service will serve to work with the current Sync Framework or even could have its own API for clients.

It could work with different data sources, not only with SQL Server. Fully integrated to work with data from the cloud.

                                I think…

                                  • BugFix: ARM Deployment project deployment.targets sets ArtifactStagingDirectory to null

There seems to be a minor bug in the Deployment.targets file in Azure Resource Group deployment projects (VS 2015 in my case). When we upgraded our TFS servers to TFS 2015, the staging folders created during the builds disappeared from the drop folder. When we looked for them, we found they were getting copied to the root of the C: drive on the build agents.

The bug is in the _CalculateArtifactStagingDirectory target in the deployment.targets file (line 89 in my case).

                                    This line:
                                    <artifactstagingdirectory condition=" '$(TF_Build)' == 'True' ">$(Build_StagingDirectory)</artifactstagingdirectory>

                                    Should read:
                                    <artifactstagingdirectory condition=" '$(Build_StagingDirectory)' != '' AND '$(TF_Build)' == 'True'…

                                      • Use NuGet to add ARM templates and supporting artifacts to a Visual Studio Azure Resource Group Project

You may have several "Azure Resource Group” projects in Visual Studio 2015 that use DSC, Linux Scripts and other artifacts. In the case of DSC, some depend on modules in the PowerShell Gallery (which is based on NuGet).

It would be advantages if I could use NuGet to add those modules to my project and have Visual Studio 2015 package them as part of “dsc.zip" when building or deploying the resource group.

There are additional benefits if the project type supported NuGet Packages, including a better mechanism to share ARM templates between projects (just imagine having an ARM Template Gallery…

                                        • Azure not authenticating Visual Studio 2013 Update 5

I am using Visual Studio 2013 and was authenticating fine to my Azure subscription until I installed Update 5 for Visual Studio 2013 and the Azure SDK and Tools. Now when trying to do anything to connect to Azure, after entering credentials nothing happens.
