Verification sign-up with Prepaid Card or with PayPal
Actually, Azure is available only to people who owns a credit card. I think this is a strong limitation and you should provide other verification methods to reach also users who doesn't own a credit card. Prepaid/Debit card such MasterCard and Visa or PayPal would be very nice options to get verified and subscribe the service.
Please take this note in consideration because I'm sure Azure is losing lot of potential customers due to this limitation.
My apologies for how long this post has gone unanswered. The Azure billing team has undergone a transformation to ship features faster and improve our responsiveness to our customers. The new team is excited to re-engage with the community and deliver the features you need for a consistent and reliable cloud billing experience.
With that said, let’s break down this ask:
Azure currently accepts Credit and Debit cards, and provides a payment option through invoice for certain subscriptions that meet the appropriate criteria. (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/offers/ms-azr-0003p/)
Supporting prepaid or virtual credit cards raises several concerns from a billing standpoint. Because of this, we currently don’t support this feature.
Other localized payment options through PayPal or other third party services are being considered for implementation in Azure, updates will be made available here.
If you have any further questions, please submit a new suggestion and we will be happy to engage.

same problem i own a credit card but it is a debit card. Enough for authentication for 99% all websites and services but not enough for Azure :-(
Same problem here. Microsoft tells you "you don't need a credit card to try". Then you try and you need a credit card for verification!! Your bill is still zero and you cannot even register.
I try to register with a prepaid card and they say it's not accepted (note that we have already spent thousands of USD with the same card on AWS!)
Azure Billing Team, you need to fix this!
Guess i'll be going AWS then
we have aws also in the market.
you should be flexible to accept debit card for subscription . i dont have a credit card and i want to explore azure cloud services.
When I heard first time that Azure came to market with that you dont need your own server to purchase and so on. Now I c , I cant learn without spending.
Using Azure at work.
Wanted to setup private account to tinker with some small web sites to learn
and maybe share with friends if i do something fun.
Cant get my free account because all my cards are pre-paid...
Halo, i'm trying to use my debit card payment, but the billing information wouldnt accept my payment, can you suggest me alternative payment methods?
I wish this worked the same way as Digital Ocean where I can use Paypal to add funds to my account. For dev / testing it's significantly better than the pay and pray method I need to use with Azure's pay-as-you-go accounts.

ADAM.. DURING THIS PERIOD OF 2015 TO 2020...YOU MUST HAVE MET YOUR EVA... SO BECOME SO BUSY THAT COULD NOT FOUND AN ALTERNATIVE OPTION. AS PER MU KNOWLEDGE MICROSOFT IS WORLDS TOP MOST IT COMPANY...IS IT REALLY? I DON'T HAVE CREDIT CARD I HATE IT AND YOU WANT ME TO PURCHASE IT... SORRY BUT SWITCHING TO AWS...VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. BYE
very dissapointed in you microsoft. switching over to my AWS account. Never coming back!!!
Still here after 6 years. If you're worried about not finding the money at the end of the month, consider -at least - to create something like an electronics rechargeable wallet that I can recharge and you get money from there at the end of billing period.

I'm trying to verify my identity, but it's not possible.
I've entered my credit card informations, but the system is telling me that my informations are invalid.
I've call my bank and every thing is ok.
I don't understand what going wrong.
Need your help!
Hahaha Adam from the Azure Billing Team fell asleep almost 5 years ago.
Lets go AWS
Credit cards are not common in Europe, most of us don't have one.
And i'm not planning to get one just to get Azure.
> updates will be made available here.
Nice updates (2015-2020)

Credit cards aren’t a very good way to identify some one on line. Right now I struggle with different family members about grabbing my card and going on line. What if they lost my card, follow my line of thought? A key type mem-stick, with finger print tech, would solve so many different problems on so many different fronts, from ID, too lost passwords

This is a joke in this day and age

For my security I will only use prepaid cards please allow customers to pay with prepaid cards or I will have to put my services somewhere else. I didn't want to but I might have to go to Amazon.
