I have no phone other then VoIP; you don't allow this why?
I am a start-up and have only a VoIP phone, because this isn't allowed I can't try Azure; really? The credit card isn't enough, or is it more about assuring one has money?
Ahh, the "Greed Evil" concept again, **** am I tired of it!
We’re looking into this. Thanks.
Lost a customer here because I wasn't able to use my VOIP number. It looks like they have been looking into this since 2017... outstanding turn around time! /s
One of the many reasons AWS is at the top of the heap. Do better M$.
I suggest AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean, Linode, Heroku, or any other number of providers for those reading this.
Yep. Wanted to evaluate Azure for our production customer facing workloads. I guess they are staying in our datacenter for now. I guess we pay MS either way.

Utter ********! Moving on to AWS, **** this!
WOW. GJ MICROSOFT. Moving on to AWS instead.
My work number is detected as VoIP and I need to sign into azure. I have to jump through hoops with MFA and a yubikey only to be told I can't sign in on my work number. There needs to be a workaround for those of us who only have voip.

have a voip for home have had it over 10 years now... can't apply with azure unless I give them a cell number... I am already starting to receive spam on my cell number from giving it out to companies who won't deal with voip. Enough.. As a developer, you are just trying to ensure people don't keep getting a free acount after 12 months. they fact is there is a $200 limit on the account before you start paying so what sense does that make when you have our credit card. And do you honestly think if someone is using your s**t heavily they are going to keep reconfiguring and swapping accounts out... Come on and think you are just ******* off a lot of people.
My hubby is an IT manager and all his **** 100+ person company is VOIP as well.
Makes no sense really bad decision that continues to happen over 3 year. The amount of stupidity in general is blinding these days they need to start teaching practical and logical and debate like thinking in the k-12 school system.
How is that i cannot use my voip phone! please do sth about that
I fully endorse the request to allow VOIP numbers. I use Google Voice exclusively because it's more private, secure, and controllable.
It's 2020 I can't use my voip number. Because my phone is broken. Please do something about this.
Ya, no, not giving my phone number

I am working on my azure certs on my own because i can't afford the classes. now you put up this roadblock...what the actual heck is going on with you guys?

Also throwing in my voice. No land line, can't sign up for Azure. I can sign up for a CREDIT CARD with a VOIP line, but not Azure. What a waste of time and energy. I wonder what other stupid policies Azure has that I've been spared from..

It's 2020 and everyone uses VOIP numbers. I'm trying to create a test tenant for our large company (5000+ employees) and our corporate phone system uses VOIP. I guess I won't bother trying to make what I'm trying to test work with AzureAD. I don't want to send off a bunch of emails to our MS rep or whoever manages our EA. I'll just stick with the options I have with AWS. Apparently no one cares at MS enough to fix this issue as there are posts going back for years.
I have to sign up for this for my class and am unable to because of "Sorry, we do not accept Voice over IP (VOIP) numbers. Try again with a different number." Why do you need to verify who I am when I am logged in with my student account in the first place?

Google Voice number rejected :(
hi in the same position. totally blind, use a screen reader jaws for windows from http://www.freedomscientific.com and don't ahve a cell phone. and want to use azure for education for my networking course to install os for my networking course. i use a voip landline, as cannot use a mobile phone. so, does not support my voip. and no e-mail or other verification. annoying.
I have a genuine mobile number that's not recognized and nobody from Microsoft support can figure out how to add that range to the backend. So frustrating.
