Additional Services

What additional services should Azure provide?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. FTP as a service

FTP is used a log for integration. It's often a common need and a common customer request. I would like to have an FTP/FTPS offering that would be HA & Auto scalable (with several pricing tier).
    - A simple one with basic security : should cover most need (TLS / encryption at rest)
-A more advanced one maybe with Azure AD integration

Storage should be HA (Using Azure Blob or Azure Files).
I would like just to have a PaaS service and do not care about the infrastructure.

Future feature like : Integration to Azure Network, Private endpoint (no public endpoint exposed), can come after.
    With…

  3. Make it simple to set up an SFTP server

One click set up of an SFTP service hosted by Azure (no dedicated VM required).

  4. GraphQL based API Service

Please provide an Azure backed GraphQL-as-a-service (http://graphql.org/), similar to AWS AppSync. This service would integrate with other Azure services such as CosmosDB, Functions, Database for PostgreSQL, etc.

This would greatly improve the ability for developers to create serverless applications on the Azure platform by providing a unified API for all of those services, and *also* providing GraphQL websocket subscriptions for those services.

Additionally, the service would have the option of automatically provisioning CosmosDB collection(s) based on provided GraphQL schema types, and automatically building GraphQL mutations which persist information to CosmosDB. The goal would be to allow mobile /…

  5. Emailing service - Not third party

An emailing service (like Amazon Simple Email Service, https://aws.amazon.com/en/ses/) would be nice.

The Third-Party options available (like SendGrid) while excellent as services, can be overkill (and pricey) if you just want to send simple HTML mails related to some trigger or user event.

  6. Payment Gateway as Service in Azure

If not all applications, most applications need some sort of credit card processing for payments. Since credit card information is sensitive, it will be nice to have a out of the box solution available in Azure (people implicitly trust Microsoft) so that people can use it in their applications (azure websites or otherwise).

  7. Restrict access to list of IP addresses

It should be possible to restrict access to Azure Key Vaults based on a whitelist of IP addresses to further increase security. We only want to have access to the Key Vaults from within Azure and from our company IP address.

All other requests should be blocked and logged.

  8. Integrated Certificate Service

Buying, managing and configuring Certificates is a hassle. It would be great if you could cut a Certificate from the Azure Certificate service directly.
Optionally have it adjust your configuration to make the proper changes for it's use.

  9. Support Tags in the Microsoft Azure Enterprise content pack for Power BI

Please support Tags in the Microsoft Azure Enterprise content pack for Power BI. Currently we have to make incredibly manual slicers for it, or else download the data via powershell, programmatic split the Tags into individual fields, and then reupload the data to be analyzed separately, instead of being able to do this straight out of BI.

  10. ip restrict access to visual studio online

Our company houses our source code in Visual Studio Online. Currently a developer with an account can log in from home and download our entire code base which is basically our intellectual property - not good if they are about to resign and go to a competitor.
My suggestion is to allow IP restrictions on downloading code/workspaces. The rest of the site should be accessible from any IP, but users would be forced to VPN into the office to access the source code.

  12. Simplify the management of License Assignment, Swapping, Updating in Office 365

Simplify the management of License Assignment, Swapping, Updating in Office 365. We want a simple licensing process for enabling a single plan within a license (e.g. Office 365 E3 Powerapps) without all the disables needed if multiple licenses was assigned to a user. We think that will help eliminate all the issues we are seeing because different teams can write their own powershell code and it is easy to make mistakes because of the complexity of the current approach of writing code. We found a PowerShell module - https://www.msazureteam.com/?p=411 however, not being a native PowerShell command really is an issue.…

  14. ability to filter our 401 Failed Requests in Application Insights

When monitoring an application that uses NT Auth 401 request failures are expected because it is part of the authentication process. But it makes it really hard to find real failed requests because their are so many 401 failures in the failed request section.

  15. Please Consider User Interface for Azure Key Vault

Come on, team! What's this PowerShell/CLI nonsense. You know you work for a company that created WINDOWS, right?!?! Using a CLI is difficult, error-prone, and a nasty way of development. It is the very reason why WINDOWS was created!

Look, I get the convenience of automation and etc, but let's not forget our roots here, right team?! WINDOWS AND PRETTY INTERFACES FOR EVERY DEVELOPER!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

And besides, they say it is "coming soon" in this video:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/videos/episode-169-azure-key-vault-with-sumedh-barde/

Where? I don't have another 90 minutes to find out. Someone who has 90 minutes and enjoys the prospect of being lied to…

  16. Pin Application Insights charts to the dashboard

It should be possible to pin a custom app insights chart to the home page. Or at least customize the app insights blade for a site with a set of custom charts.

  18. Allow Application Insights to be viewed by non Azure Administrators

Please add a way for non administrators to be able to view application insights data. Currently it appears that you have to be an Azure admin to see this information.

  20. Persist Time Range Selection

Currently my time range selection is not persisted, even within the same resource or resource group. Once clicking back from a detail blade the time range reverts back to 24 hours. This greatly impedes troubleshooting in an alerting scenario. May be a bug but necessary to have for production troubleshooting.
