Azure Active Directory

Welcome to the Azure Active Directory suggestions and feedback site! We love hearing from you. If you have suggestions, please submit an idea or vote up an idea. We are monitoring the site actively.

Thank you for joining our community and helping improve Azure AD!

Wehave a new log in experience integrated with Azure AD, and we stronglyrecommend you log in with your Azure AD (Office 365) account. If yourUserVoice account is the same email address as your Azure AD account, yourprevious activities will be automatically mapped to your Azure AD account.  You can read more here for details: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Azure-Active-Directory-Identity/Putting-customers-first-for-f...

  1. License management on-premises

It would be nice to have the O365 licenses managed on-premises -in that way there won't be need of artificial scripting.

  2. Add filter in Azure AD "XXXXXX - Licensed users" page

Please add the ability to filter in the Azure AD licensed users page. E.g.
In "Office 365 E3 - Licensed users" page, there is no option to filter by assignment paths. Thanks!

  3. Group Based Licensing throttling information

I just experienced that it took 6 days to add 2000 licenses via GBL and then on the 7th day it took only 4 hours to add 8000 licenses.

The only message I got was "license changes are pending"

I will be great info if there could some Throttling information or just more info than "license changes are pending"

  4. When a license assignment problem has been detected, I want to get an email notification

Now I have to see a pane for the group in the AAD portal to find users in an error state.

Identify and resolve license assignment problems for a group in Azure Active Directory
    URL : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/users-groups-roles/licensing-groups-resolve-problems

But I want to get information ASAP.
So when a license assignment problem has been detected, I hope that the AAD send an email notification to Administrators.

  5. Dynamic group condition based on assigned license

Provide a condition to use a license identifier attribute to be used when populating a dynamic group. For example, I want to add all users who have an E1 license to a dynamic group so that I can assign the azure ad p1 license to this new dynamic group, so that I do not have to run a PowerShell script every day to get users that have the e1 license to assign to a static group in order to assign the p 1 license to those users.

Or organization has e3 users as well, hence the need to separate out…

  7. Licensing Assign Qty of SKU against SKU Group

When there is a shared tenant and licensing allocations are split - provide ability to add a license count to a SKU group that applies notifications when limits will be hit up agreed threshold above limit that doesn't pass the total tenant available limit.

  8. Will group based licensing apply to Office 365 A3?

When Azure AD licensing goes (GA) General Availability will it also apply to the education sector who purchase Office 365 A3 license?

  9. Use separate naming schemes for the directory and the licenses.

I'm an SE, and advise customers around Azure AD every day. Very often, people are confused when reading or hearing about Azure AD, because they can't separate the directory from the licenses as they're trying to wrap their heads around technical and licensing problems. It would do a great deal of good to net new customers investigating the use of the service, existing Microsoft Online Services customers, and third party vendors, if the directory and license naming schemes were separate. I do like 'Azure Active Directory' for the directory; but would prefer something like 'Azure Identity and Access Management' for…

  10. Increase number of permitted agents per licensed users

We'd really like to see a more generous number of registered agents permitted for each increment of users licensed for Azure AD Premium. At the time of writing it's 1 registered agent per 25 licensed users, with the first agent requiring a single license (i.e. 3 agents = 51 licenses).

In our case, we'd like to monitor all of our ADDS, ADFS & Sync servers, but fall well short of the required number of Azure AD Premium licenses. For example, we license all of our users with Azure AD Premium, so assuming ~30 users, we can register two agents. Yet…

  11. Allow sync of License attribute back from AAD to AD

It does not appear that the License attribute is available for sync from AAD back to on premise AD. It would be useful to allow this flow so that queries are possible against the on premise AD for license information rather than having to query AAD.

  12. Make user list searchable in the licensing section

When I want to assign a user to an Enterprise Mobility License, I can only select ALL USERS. Then I have to page through them 25 at a time I have thousands its really boring

  13. License enforcement for premium features

Enforce license assignment for users subject to premium features. The rules are too ambiguous. We are told users need a license each, but we have competitors selling a single azure ad p1 license to utilise conditional access for all users (and third party mfa).

Make it a requirement or change the licensing rules.

This feels like a modern version of rogue providers activating the same windows and office license across entire fleets and customers.

  14. issues using groups to manage licensing in Azure Active Directory

All of our licensing groups are effected. When things like customer lockbox information barriers etc. were added to the e5 they are automatically turned on in this licensing group. All of our groups reacted the same way.
We would like Microsoft to stop modify our custom groups licensing features. We have groups setup for specific functionally and license provisioning.

  15. Provide PowerShell functionality for Azure group-based licensing

Since MS announced Azure AD group-based licensing Allstate we have migrated nearly all our “direct-assignment” to Azure “group-based” licensing for O365.

Our efforts to automate “group-based” licensing have found limited functionality using PowerShell and that Admin must still use the Azure portal to complete “group-based” licensing as seen within the link below.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/users-groups-roles/licensing-groups-assign

**Yes user-based scripting is possible, but this is an overhead that we would like to avoid and is perhaps counterproductive.

  16. Allow GBL Use with Mixed Licenses Scenarios

Based on the Group-Based Licensing documentation, it is not permitted to manage F1, E1 or licenses other than E3, E5 or F1/E1 with AAD Premium add-ons.

We should be able to use GBL to assign all type of licenses, not just high-level licenses.

Example, if we have 500 E3, 100 E1 and 50 F1, we should be able to create 3 groups: E3Users (with 500 or less members), E1Users (with 100 or less members) and F1Users (with 50 or less members)... without the requirement of buying 150 AAD Premium add-ons.

  17. Could Admins possibly add/update/remove licenses for an Azure group using only PowerShell!

Since MS announced Azure AD group-based licensing Allstate we have migrated nearly all our “direct-assignment” to Azure “group-based” licensing for O365.

Our additional efforts to automate “group-based” licensing has found limited functionality (cannot add/update/remove licenses for any Azure group) using PowerShell and that Admins must still use the Azure portal to complete “group-based” licensing as seen within the link below.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/users-groups-roles/licensing-groups-assign

  20. Allow assignment of specific license type to a specific people

Please, add the option to allow assignment of specific license types to a specific people/group of people. For example specific user can assign/remove only Power BI PRO licenses and not other type of license. Currently the only option is to assign a License Administrator or User Administrator role but then he can manage all licenses which is not desired.
