  1. getState

    Would be helpful to be able to ask the player its current state (playing, paused, buffering, idel, etc.) rather than having to check each individual state or listen to all the events and track ourselves. See JWPlayer getState: http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1413089-javascript-api-reference#playback

  2. Pause at speific time in video

    It would be of great help if AMP modify the current pause() method or provide a new function which takes floating point as parameter and pauses the video at exactly the same time with milliseconds precision. Yes we can do myPlayer.currentTime(time).pause() but it does not pauses at the exact frame because the currentTime(time) starts the playback after setting the currentTime and not just setting the currentTime to time.

  3. Automatically Disable Full Screen Button if Full Screen Not Allowed

    If AMP is in an iFrame that doesn't have allowfullscreen set, or you've specifically told your browser not to allow full screen for a specific domain, then it would be nice if AMP just disabled the full screen toggle button on the player.

    You could check if AMP is in a context that allows full screen with something like this...

    public static isFullScreenAllowed(): boolean {

        var document: any = window.document;

    return document.fullscreenEnabled || document.webkitFullscreenEnabled
    || document.mozFullScreenEnabled || document.msFullscreenEnabled;
    }

  4. Playback Frame Rate

    It would be desirable to have API support of current playback frame rate. This is useful for test purpose. In addition, it is useful to keep track of lost frame count in a playback session.

  5. Allow newer image formats to be used for posters

    As a user I would like to be able to provide a list of images to the poster parameter of the player that would be used like an html 5 picture tag, So that I can use newer image formats like webp for my posters but fall back to the older formats if needed.

  6. Add support for videos without audio tracks

    Not sure if it's by design or not, but AMP fails if there is no audio track.

    I can see a number of valid business cases for videos with no audio tracks.

    The errors:
    MEDIAERRSRCNOTSUPPORTED
    error: azureHtml5JS: workflowSequencer: stepRejected: Module = streamSelector FailureCode = 0x00400003err: Video or audio streams not found

  7. Timeline Preview

    The Timeline Preview displays static thumbnails that correspond to the video's playhead location in the Player's seek-bar. Hovering over any time location in the seek-bar will display the relevant Timeline Preview tooltip. This allows viewers to skim quickly through the video's playback and skip to interest points easily.

  8. Add event listener to track changes of selected closed captions/subtitles in the player.

    We would like to know how much are closed captions/subtitles used in the player (how many times are different CC/subtitles selected from the menu).

  9. Create a light weight player without localized string and controls

    In some cases we don't need the player controls and localized strings as we would use our own. Thus it will be great to provide a lighter version of the player which does not include these so that js size gets smaller for better performance.

  10. Create Wordpress Plugin for Azure Media Player

    Wordpress is one of the most popular CMS / Blogging Engine. Today we're unable to add Azure Media Player on Wordpress.

  11. More troubleshooting capabilities

    Often intermittent errors are hard to reproduce. It would be great to have the framework, best practices whitepaper to know how to collect information which could be used to troubleshoot issues that occur intermittently or in the cases they can't be easily reproduced

  12. AzureHtml5js to obey preload="none"

    Using the recommended techOrder, starting with azureHtml5js, I can't seem to stop the stream from preloading. This really adds up to a lot of downloading in views that are often refreshed.

    Placing Html5-tech first seems to help, but this is not a good solution obviously.

    Please add an option to control preloading from any tech.

  14. azuremediaplayer.min.js:38 Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'add' on 'DOMTokenList': The token provided must not be empty

    Since Azure Media Player version 2.1.0 and above, the exception below occurs and style seems to be broken.

    azuremediaplayer.min.js:38 Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'add' on 'DOMTokenList': The token provided must not be empty.

    Refer to the attached screenshot.

  15. Angular, angular 2, React Wrappers

    It would be highly beneficial to provide both Angular and angular 2 components in node_module format that could be used for mainstream projects.

  16. Loop option for video

    Add a feature to loop a video. This would be useful in installations using Azure Media Player to stream video from Azure to a display wall or similar.

  17. Implement AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) extension

    AMP project is gaining more popularity. Here's a list of video/audio providers that already built support for it https://github.com/ampproject/amphtml/blob/master/extensions/README.md#audiovideo

    It would be very useful to support an AMP video extension

  19. Requests for Azure Media Player.

    It was tested for azure media player and we have some requests for Azure Media Player.

    1. If you want to up the viewing record of every minute on the server, I think there is no way to be implemented in a non-timer processing of javascript? We are concerned about the performance. In the case of JWplayer, ontime function are provided.

    2. You want to customize the label of the bit rate change bar and We want to be able to also change the sort order. In the case of JWplayer, label changes are possible.

  20. Does Azure Media Player support vertical caption positioning via WebVTT?

    I am able to position a caption horizontally using the annotation in my WebVTT source, but vertical positioning does not appear to work.

    Using the file attached as a subtitle track, the subtitles are correctly positioned horizontally to the left, but the "line" attribute seems to be ignored (it should display vertically centred but instead is on the bottom as always).

    The "line" attribute is described in the WebVTT documentation:

    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/WebVTTAPI#Cuesettings
