Automatic Scaling Up / Down of Reserved Encoding Units
Having to plan ahead and manually reserve Encoding Units prior to submitting jobs, then manually stopping them upon job completion loses one important aspect of cloud computing: auto-scalability.
It would be much more useful to set an upper limit on number of reserved concurrent encoding units and let WAMS manage according to size of job queue.
This would make WAMS Encoding elastic and on par with other cloud encoding services.
Auto-scaling of reserved units is on the roadmap for Windows Azure Media Services.

When is Media services autoscale supposed to be done?
We can use https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/media/operations/encodingreservedunittype to scale up and down programmatically right now I guess.

It's been 3 years since this feature has been "on the roadmap". Any thoughts as to when it actually may make it into AMS?

any updates on this feature

Thanks for the update. With all due respect, this doesn't help me much. Do you have any hint as to when on the roadmap this feature is aimed for? There have been a number of features on the roadmap for a long time now, but still no visibility as to when they will actually become available (even if only in preview).
