  1. Overlay a video with another video - alpha mov

    Hi team, it would be useful to add video files as overlays as well as images so alpha movs can be overlaid the original source file.

    This is a capability we currently use with other encoding services that would be nice to have in Azure so we can keep it all in one place.

    Any thoughts?

  2. Support for clipping videos with AMS v3

    v2 allowed you to clip videos by specifying a start time and clip duration.
    A similar v3 feature would be great.

  4. Inserting InsertSilenceIfNoAudio and InsertBlackIfNoVideo using custom presets

    Azure Media Service preset (XML or Json) can't take InsertSilenceIfNoAudio and InsertBlackIfNoVideo same time.

    We need this in cases like, if clip has no audio then encoder can use InsertSilenceIfNoAudio and if clip has no video then encoder can use InsertBlackIfNoVideo.

    When I was going through this blog post https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/media-services/previous/media-services-advanced-encoding-with-mes#no_video I realized this feature is not available, also posted it here asking for details https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs/issues/20149.

    Please either build this or confirm alternate option to achieve same.

  6. Allow fractional percentages

    I would like to specify an encoder profile with fractional percentages, wherever percentages can already be used.

    For example, I would like to be able to produce thumbnails with exactly 1/8th the height of the input video, by specifying a percentage of 12.5%.

    If I try this now, I get an error:

    Error : ErrorProcessingTask : An error has occurred. Stage: ApplyEncodeCommand. Code: System.FormatException.

    Microsoft.Cloud.Media.Encoding.PresetException: Failed to enable StretchMode in the preset. --->
    System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

  7. Watermarking / Overlay Video using Azure Media Service

    Hi Team,
    I am new to Azure and as far as i now Video Encoding (watermarking or say overlay) on video is a service provided by Azure so we should have a interface for watermarking (overlay) the video where we can provide image and video link and Azure will do the rest functionality for watermarking. Please guide me if we have any direct azure interface or in build support for overlay on video or watermarking the video. If no such facility is available, please guide me how do i do watermarking(overlay) using Dot net step by step.

    Thanks in Advance.

  8. API to extract video format and metadata without trans-coding or analyzing the entire video.

    It would be a great tool to have the ability to analyze a video with an API call, prior to the trans-coding step. We have an issue where we don't have the format/encoding/compression information for all of our videos or other meta-data like video duration, resolution, etc. It would be great to be able to extract this information as a separate API, without an encoding process.

  10. Provide timestamps from video summary

    What they want to achieve:
    Insert a video, process it to get a summary and then get screenshots out of the summary to put them into a computer vision api (get the description of what is on that screenshot) so that they can get descriptive metadata of the whole metadata. We are receiving a lot of user generated content and would like to be able to tag it efficiently.

    It would be nice to get a metadata file alongside the summarized video. The metadata file should contain information about all the scenes that are detected as well as portions of…

  11. Decrease time to start encoder job

    It always takes about 30s to start a job no matter what size the video is. It's too slow.

    For example if you have 5s video and you just want to resize it so you have to wait about a minute before the processing is finished.

    Please improve performance here or provide pricing plans where it will work faster. Less than 5s to start a job should be reasonable.

  12. Add Support for HEVC H.265 Encoding

    See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding. Our internal tests with HEVC/H.265 encoding is that it can decrease 4K file size by 4X. Please consider adding support for this encoder as an option for video output.

  14. Compose a series of still images into a video

    Pull a series of images from blob storage or accept them from a stream of REST calls. Convert each image to a video frame and output the resulting video.

  15. Automatic Scaling Up / Down of Reserved Encoding Units

    Having to plan ahead and manually reserve Encoding Units prior to submitting jobs, then manually stopping them upon job completion loses one important aspect of cloud computing: auto-scalability.
    It would be much more useful to set an upper limit on number of reserved concurrent encoding units and let WAMS manage according to size of job queue.
    This would make WAMS Encoding elastic and on par with other cloud encoding services.

    Hi SCrainic,
    Auto-scaling of reserved units is on the roadmap for Windows Azure Media Services.

  16. Video compositing through AMS Advanced Encoder

    The lack of an implementation of video compositing (similar to the current overlay/watermark implementation but with video content) has consistently been the only thing stopping me from using AMS for multiple projects.

    Simplified example JSON:

    "CompositionMedia": [
    {
    "Position": {
    "X": 100,
    "Y": 100,
    "Width": 100,
    "Height": 50
    },
    "Source": "video2.mp4",
    "Clip": {
    "Starts": "00:00:20",
    "Duration": "00:00:10"
    }
    },
    {
    "Position": {
    "X": 150,
    "Y": 150,
    "Width": 50,
    "Height": 100
    },
    "Source": "video3.mp4",
    "Clip": {
    "Starts": "00:00:25",
    "Duration": "00:00:05"
    }
    }
    ]

  17. Support QTRLE codec as input

    We use AMS to convert different inputs into mp4 h.264 for previewing purposes. We've seen an increase in usage of videos with this codec in our application, and are currently unable to provide preview for these files.

  19. Leave previous version available in Media Encoders

    Each processor of Media Encoder Stanadard/Premium Workflow has the only latest version now.
    However, I've experienced some errors caused by the update of Media Encoder's processor.

    So I want to use the previous version if some problem is found.
    Please leave previous version available until next update.
