Web Apps

Web Apps in Azure App Service provides a scalable, reliable, and easy-to-use environment for hosting web applications. Select from a range of frameworks and templates to create a web site in seconds. Use any tool or OS to develop your site with .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python and more. Choose from a variety of source control options including TFS, GitHub, BitBucket and others to set up continuous integration and develop as a team.

More details about the services are available in the App Service documentation. If you have a technical issue, please open a post on the developer forums through Stack Overflow or MSDN.

Products that we listen to in this space include: App Service, Web Apps, API Apps and Web App for Containers.

  1. Rolling Deployments

An alternative feature to avoid downtime during deployments. In cases where we can handle multiple versions of the app running simultaneously, it is a simpler and more cost-effective option.

  3. PHP 5.6.14 instead of 5.6.10 shoud be available.

We are developing the WordPress site on Azure Web Apps and it is working on "5.6.10", however, the PHP development team has announced the immediate availability of PHP "5.6.14". This is a security release. Two security bugs were fixed in this release. We would like to upgrade the PHP version to "5.6.14" on Azure Web Apps as soon as possible.

The following method can be applied to the PHP applications except the WordPress. The install directory of WordPress seems to be different from the following document and we cannot access it.

  5. Add Bitbucket deployment option to Linux web apps

My company uses Bitbucket exclusively for our Git repo hosting, I'm very excited to start using the Linux-based web app service, would love to see Bitbucket added as a deployment source option alongside Github and Azure.

    Hi Kiran,

We provide extensive documentation about deploying in a number of methods, a good place to start is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service-web/app-service-deploy-content-sync, but you can really check into all the deployment section docs to see what meets your needs.

In addition, you can use one of the samples we provide on www.azure.com.

If you’re still needing more help, reach out to us on the developer forums:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=windowsazurewebsitespreview

    Thanks,
    Oded

  8. Support HTML to PDF Rendering

Support for popular libraries to render HTML to PDF, I understand this is due to a restriction on access to GDI+.

Could this be added as a site extension?

Hello. We did not have any reported availability issues around the time of your post (July 29 noon) for WordPress sites. If you run into this sort of thing in the future, please engage our support to have it investigated on the spot.

  14. SCOM Alert

We have only few alert rules on Azure VM, it would be good if we have SCOM as services with in the vnet of azure

  15. Wordpress doesn't work properly

After firing up my first wordpress web app, I expect to see a Wordpress admin page when I click the URL. Instead I just get a page saying 'This web app has been successfully created' as if there is no content on it. If I've set it up as a Wordpress app, shouldn't I be able to access more? This is incredibly frustrating.

Hi, Robert. GHOST is already available in the Azure Gallery. Please look for it under the Blogs container.

  17. More transparent pricing

I'm considering scaling my app, because I need it to stay on, but I can't tell what the pricing is for switching to basic/standard. THat information is not on the page where I'm trying to make my decisions about what is right for me, which is SUPER annoying.
