Enable HTTP/2 on Azure Web Apps
IIS 10.0 in Windows 10 already supports HTTP/2, Azure Web Apps should support it as well.

Marking as complete! Full deployment for all multi-tenant resources is now complete. Enabling HTTP/2 is documented in the blog here:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/appserviceteam/2018/04/13/announcing-http2-support-in-azure-app-service/
We will have UI support in the Azure Portal in the coming weeks for a simple toggle experience but you can update through the resource explorer right now.
Deployment to App Service Environmentx and national clouds will be coming shortly.
Please reach out over the developer forums for any questions or issues encountered.
Thanks,
Oded

Adding my votes for this one. Please provide a status update. Thanks.

I suspect this is because the CDNs which Azure offers support http2 which mitigates the problem to a degree that it is not so painful.

wow. Not even a timeline for HTTP2, this is embarrassing. Even IE Edge supports HTTP2.

Seriously, this is now in the somebody-should-be-fired stage. The #1 most request feature by a mile (sorry, Metor and renaming a resource don't count) and not even a roadmap. Does not reflect well on the company (and I've been an MS developer for many years).

It would be good to see this implemented.

Other http servers such as Apache and Nginx have been offering SPDY and then Http/2 support in some form or another for well over 2 years (beta and then release when the spec was finalised in Feb 2015). Once again we have been waiting years for Windows Server 2016 because Microsoft would not add support to IIS in Windows Server 2012 R2 - no doubt to force everyone to upgrade. Now despite Windows Server 2016 finally being released for GA still no support in Azure cloud services or web apps. With such big benefits this is why lots of shops I know have bit the bullet and migrated off of Windows Server / IIS and off of .Net. You need to give a clear roadmap for when this is going to happen. Factor in all the other 'bread and butter' services that are missing from Azure and you can understand the frustration everyone feels.

ASP.NET (Core) with HTTP/2 server push would make this feature truly powerful, and are tied in together. Can't wait to improve app bootstrap performance by sending all required files with the initial request. Also sending partial JPEG images which can enhance later with progressive rendering, through prioritizing only the first minimum bytes and stream the rest after bootstrap.

Http2 support means js app developers won't have to to use module bundlers like webpack anymore, that would affect a lot of people who I am sure are waiting for MS to implement this.

Quite disappointing update. It irks me that we're so depending on the sluggish infrastructure upgrades with Azure hosted services.

Almost a year later. An update, at least, would be very helpful. Thanks!

Any updates would be awesome... Even just a "we're still working on this..." would be great.
