Web Apps

Web Apps in Azure App Service provides a scalable, reliable, and easy-to-use environment for hosting web applications. Select from a range of frameworks and templates to create a web site in seconds. Use any tool or OS to develop your site with .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python and more. Choose from a variety of source control options including TFS, GitHub, BitBucket and others to set up continuous integration and develop as a team.

More details about the services are available in the App Service documentation. If you have a technical issue, please open a post on the developer forums through Stack Overflow or MSDN.

Products that we listen to in this space include: App Service, Web Apps, API Apps and Web App for Containers.

  1. Kudu Site throgh Custom Domain

I would like to request securing App service --Kudu site through custom domain. We would like to map custom domain to Kudu site and then forward request it through our own Web application firewall.

We can use custom domain for app service. I am requesting something similar to below.

    Custom Domain name: AAA.com
    Origgianl Site: AAA.azurewebsites.net

    For Kudu,
    Custom Domain: AAA.com/Kudu
    Original Site: AAA.SCM.azurewebsite,net or AAA.azurewebsites.net/scm

  2. Ability to view availability of regions by subscription

Provide a page (and notification on the corresponding resource page) that provides the information about when/if a specific resource cannot be scaled in its region due to specific constraints. For example, currently sponsored subscriptions cannot be deployed to West US. It came as an unpleasant surprise to our team as we were getting high load and needed to scale out.

  3. App Service Environment's IP is being blacklist from Spam Rats

The IP address of App Service should not be blacklisted to any platform like Spam Rats. This gives the client some confusion on what was going on with the environment.

  4. Install a Docker container as part of a Site Extension, but not as the primary App Service site.

I want to use an agent that is written in Go to listen for requests from within the App Service. Although this can be accomplished by running the Go agent in a separate VM, the intent is to have it seamlessly available within the App Service. We will be installing another agent-like library into the App Service, and it will be embedded in the web app so that it can monitor it and send data to the Go agent.

  5. Allow password to be retrieved from KeyVault for ACR.

    Hi,
Currently when we set the password for ACR in APPSETTINGS under DOCKERREGISTRYSERVER_PASSWORD it is able to load the images but if I try to fetch the password from KeyVault the ACR tab is unable to load the images from.

  6. Stick to the original timeline for App Services in UAE

We have clients in the middle east who are currently hosted in Europe. This causes high latency which would be solved by hosting in UAE.

  7. Add support incl. documentation on writing API Apps in Python and importing this API in APIM.

Although Azure's documentation claims that Python is fully supported on Linux environments, I'm not able to use the API Management service and include for instance an Azure Function App created in Python. Is this even possible and, if yes, how?

  8. Ability to Disable PHP from the new Configuration Blade

I like in the new configuration blade the ability to choose the stack, but in choosing a .NET stack, PHP didn't get disabled (java and python were disabled appropriately). I had to go into classic application settings and disable php there. Please make sure this is an option if you get rid of the classic. As a security conscious site we want to constantly reduce our attack footprint.

  9. Deployment URL for App Services

The App Services has a URL, however if the Deployment URL is also shown then it would be handy for someone to just click, rather than copying the URL and then manually constructing the Deployment URL by putting "scm." in front of azurewebsites.net and also adding /ZipDeployUI at the end.

Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote which allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  10. Add better logging for Isolated App Service Environment when Deployments Fail

It can be extremely frustrating when an isolated ASE fails to deploy if the only error log says "The resource provision operation did not complete within the allowed timeout period. "

There are a number of forum threads, blogs, etc. that discuss what to possibly check when this error is thrown.

I think it could just do better. If there are requirements to communicate with some management IP during creation and it can't then that should be in the error log.

  12. Allow trigger prioritization

I have several functions including both http and queue triggered, as well as one timer triggered, in a single function app on a multi-instance app service. I am having problems where even though there are multiple instances, some of my functions wind up waiting until the timer triggered function (which takes a few minutes) is complete before they execute. That means that instead of taking less than a second, these functions take several seconds up to minutes, depending on when they are triggered during the timer's execution. I am probably going to move the timer triggered function to its own…

  13. Add Java libs and corresponding package in the Ruby Images

Looks like Java is not installed with default ruby package. Is it possible for the team to include java packages with ruby so that we can use the default one rather than our own container images. Even without disturbing existing ruby package we can come up with new package as given below so that whoever wants both combination can use the same.
    - Ruby + Java package

  14. If you develop a future in Webapp to resolve hostname in same vnet to communicate with the hostname to other VM to resolve host entry

Using hostname by editing of the hosts file. to resolve the hostname to ip to name without DNS that will help, Because of this reason, the customer cannot move to another PASs service instead of a web app. If you implement this future like a haddop cluster that environment that will be helpful to everyone. for this reason, the support team is taking more months to give the conclusion. ask the update on the feedback.

  15. Allow app service to use hybrid connection namespaces in another subscription

When adding a hybrid connection to an app service, if you choose to use an existing "Service Bus Namespace" (Why is it called that and not Relay like it is everywhere else?), it requires you to choose a namespace that is in the name subscription as the app service.

I would like to use an existing namespace in the same tenant but a different subscription. I'm not sure if this is a limitation on hybrid connections or a limitation of the configuration screen in the portal.

  16. BUG: Application Pool PATH variable includes wrong path for git

The Application Pool configuration Path variable includes the following for git, however the 64 bit version is actually installed. This means that the application cannot use Git without referencing the full path (which in my case is impractical).

    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Git\cmd"

    Path variable should refer to:

    "D:\Program Files\Git\cmd"

  17. Display Proper Message if an App Service is Down

    reference to the case# 518312

Our websites failed because of an outage at Microsoft.
the message displayed on web apps running in the subscription suggested that the subscription was suspended due to non-payment whereas the issue was on Microsoft side. It would have been better if the message was more specific

  18. Running df -<switch> on a Linux App Service must return the disk space used by the App Service Plan on the remote file system mount (/home)

Running df -h / df -P on a Linux App Service container (in case of remote file system mount on /home) should return the disk space utilized on the remote file system by the App Service Plan instead of the total disk space utilized on the remote file system.

We are trying to monitor the disk space utilized on the /home folder on a Linux App Service using AppDynamics extensions.

AppDynamics agent runs a df -h or df -P on the app service container. This command returns the total disk space utilized on the remote file system mounted on /home…

  20. Issue in accessing code execution logs on console in linux python azure functions 2.x

It would be great if python azure function apps hosted on linux do display code execution logs real time on the console.Currently we have been facing issue in generating the logs for the same on console.
