Web Apps

Web Apps in Azure App Service provides a scalable, reliable, and easy-to-use environment for hosting web applications. Select from a range of frameworks and templates to create a web site in seconds. Use any tool or OS to develop your site with .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python and more. Choose from a variety of source control options including TFS, GitHub, BitBucket and others to set up continuous integration and develop as a team.

More details about the services are available in the App Service documentation. If you have a technical issue, please open a post on the developer forums through Stack Overflow or MSDN.

Products that we listen to in this space include: App Service, Web Apps, API Apps and Web App for Containers.

  1. Please have a reliable way for applications to get their slot name

Right now our application code has no way of reliably figuring out which slot it is operating within. WEBSITEHOSTNAME is invalid when performing slot swaps and APPSETTINGWEBSITESITE_NAME is the same for all slots.

Also, we need the slot name before processing any HTTP requests, so can't really parse the hostname in an HTTP request either. This should be the responsibility of the hosting service to tell which slot is hosting the application.

  3. AAD authentication for FTP

I want to have the FTP to use Azure AD authentication rather than using the other 2 methods available now (App, User Credentials).

  4. Make Small App Service Plans (S1/B1) more reliable

We've faced a issue of random high CPU in App Service Plan (S1), Azure support says that it is due to internal monitoring. But my suggestion is why to keep app service plan on such low resources that internal monitoring services suck the CPU / Memory resources.

In Short - Microsoft should make the azure internal services to use minimum resources / increase resources for small app service plans such as S1.

  6. Snapshot in an ASE should display a more detailed error

When trying to restore from snapshot, or clone, an app in an ASE, the error message is very unclear, for example:

    >C:\Resources\directory\c26930a7e22e4342bdeb9036ea633198.MultiRole.BackupRestore\98b51e84-7c48-402d-8c63-95f796fde96c\package\fs: The user name or password is incorrect.

It would be great if we provided a more thorough explanation of why this failed.

Perhaps greying-out the snapshot button in the portal would be appropriate as well?

  7. App Service Environment - Issues with "VIP type" for Network

We can see that there are multiple bugs in App Service Environment - Issues with "VIP type" for Network:
    - When we select Internal; There is no validation of Domain Name
    - When we select External; it does not provide the IP Address range
    - Same issue is observed with new and existing Network

  8. Define X-Forwarded-Port

As Wep App for Container works with a front proxy and as the https traffic incoming on port 443 is redirect as http on port 80, the HTTP Header X-Forwarded-Port should be define as it is on AWS (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticloadbalancing/latest/classic/x-forwarded-headers.html)

As of today, the header is missing and that breaks libs like phpCAS checking for this header through $SERVER['HTTPXFORWARDEDPORT'] to get the current "external" url.

  9. Why Apache TomEE is not avialable under app-service-linux-intro

Currently only Tomcat 8.5, 9.0, Java SE, WildFly 14 (all running JRE 8), are available as linux supported runtimes:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/containers/app-service-linux-intro

Why Apache TomEE (TomEE plume 7.1.0) is note available since it's java 8 compatible?

  11. Disable certain schedule WebJob

For now, there are only able to disable all schedule WebJobs by adding WEBJOBSDISABLESCHEDULE setting.
But sometimes needs to disable some certain of schedule WebJob instead of all.

Probably the most convenient way is to add one more setting something like "WEBJOBSDISABLEDSCHEDULE_LIST" and value will be a list of scheduled WebJobs names "ScheduleWebJobToDisable1;ScheduleWebJobToDisable2".

THIS IS URGENT FOR MICROSOFT TO NOTIFY AZURE ADMINISTRATORS, I thought about all the bad things(undocumented change, attack, etc) and I was told that there were upgrades.
    App Service plan: P1V2
Started after midnight of Saturday 6-27 till this morning 6-29.(Pacific Time). please call me for further details.

  13. www.hp.com/support

The 123.hp.com/setup is actually a website which is set up by HP technicians to help people set up their HP Printer by downloading the printer drivers and other software through this website. On this website you can find directions on how you can connect your hp.com/support wirelessly, with help of USB cable and even things like how one can install a cartridge in the printer.
