We’re actively reviewing new locations for Windows Azure sites and are working with partners to enable them to provide services in geo locations were sites aren’t otherwise planned. So please keep the feedback coming as to locations were you would like to have Windows Azure available, as this is valuable input into our expansion plans. That said, building out geo diverse hosting environments is a nontrivial task and it takes time to build the requisite site and spin up the associated infrastructure. We’re working to accelerate this process and to make it easier to navigate the requirements involved in deploying to additional locations, but the timeframe to expand to all the geographies we would like will be measured in years rather than months.

Hi Everyone I'm a software developer currently residing in the Pacific Island region, Fiji to be precise. I am currently working as a programmer at a local software development company here. We are a Microsoft Partner and build custom business enterprise applications on the .NET platform for our clients here in Fiji as well as around the region.

At this point there is a growing interest in porting some of our existing as well as future applications onto the cloud. We have done some research and we would seriously like to try out the cloud services offered by windows azure.

Unfortunately we could not sign up for an account because apparently there are no offers for accounts from Fiji or any other Pacific Island nation for that matter (apart from Australia and New Zealand).

So what are we supposed to do now? Apart from getting someone else who is in a better geographic position to sign up for us is there any other way? Are these services ever going to be made available to the developer community here?

Is there any space on the cloud for us?

I thought Africa would've been the first place to implement it due to the lack of hardware in rural areas. We definitely need it in South Africa, pronto.

Windows Azure will be commercially available mid 2012 in South Africa. As we understand it, South Africa is included in what is being called the "V2" or "Spring" release of Windows Azure along with 40 other countries (Windows Azure is currently only available commercially in around 30 countries). We are not sure which other countries are on the list for this new release but we can find out. We have a user group (http://www.facebook.com/AzureZA) if you want more information on Windows Azure in South Africa...

Why is not available in the UAE. I understand there are legal issues, but what is the solution if we want to use the cloud now?
