How can we improve Azure SQL Database?

Support full-text indexing

Our application is heavily dependent on it. So this is a blocker right now.

I added my feedback onto this nearly 3 years ago. Still there is no Full Text Search support. My solution? I've moved everything to AWS that DOES support Full Text Search with RDS.

Microsoft have made Azure Search generally available today, You can point Azure Search at your AzureSQL database and it will index it without you having to write code.

Absolutely vital that SQL Azure supports full text services. I'm not going to re-engineer a perfectly working product with Lucene or cook something up just to move it into Azure...

I'm working on an agile knowledge management solution on primeobjects.com. FullTestSearch and Semantic search are two mandatory features. I knew Azure database does not support fulltestsearch 2 years ago however it is still not supported (it is 2015 now!). I created a Azure database just now and I have to delete it.

Microsoft, you offer NopCommerce from the gallery, yet you don't support FULLTEXT which it uses for searching products. C'mon.

I am using Azure mobile services with server scripts(node.js) backend. How can I use lucene.net or azure search for that? Is it an alternative for Full Text Search?

As Gautam Jain asked - is Azure Search what we should be using, instead of SQL Server's full-text search?

ridiculous for MS not to support FTS in SQL Azure. I tried today at 15/08/2014, still not supported... shame on you MS

Heh. "Not in the near term horizon..."

You know, for a company that has supposedly placed massive bets on the cloud, MS certainly seems to do a great job ignoring customer feedback.

Can we at least have an update please? Is it now in the near term horizon, or is it even still planned at all?

This idea was submitted 5 years ago, and surprisingly it hasn't been implemented yet. Way to go Microsoft.

Seriously, this was planned two years ago? Can we get an update on this? Please add FTS functionality to SQL Azure. I cannot think of an app that doesn't have to search text.

        +1 on Deployment Blocker.
With this feature our whole solution could be moved to Azure. Without, it stays On-Prem.
